**The job holder is required to**:

- Assess and manage the risks associated with HSBC’s wealth management business, identifying ways to mitigate these risks, ensuring fair customer outcomes and delivering the appropriate risk/reward.
- Develop, implement and manage a business framework and procedures that enable HSBC to develop a long term sustainable and customer oriented wealth business in the Middle East.
- Represent Risk on several Risk and Wealth Management committees to ensure that appropriate risk evaluation and mitigation has been undertaken and be a key member of the WPB Risk team.
- Work with colleagues in the business and risk to support implementation of sustainable growth initiatives in line with the Wealth Risk Framework across all wealth markets within the Region.

**In this role you will**:

- Identify current, potential and emerging risks associated with HSBC’s wealth management business in MENAT and initiate mitigating actions.
- In partnership with the business, develop and maintain an appropriate framework and procedures that enable development of a long term sustainable and customer orientated wealth management business in MENAT. This needs to include people, processes and systems and have full recognition of the evolving regulatory environment.
- Develop and oversee wealth management risk governance principally through Product Governance forums and Risk Management Meetings. Ensure that top risks are highlighted and appropriately managed.
- Work with Compliance to address regulatory concerns and ensure key action programmes are delivered.
- Strengthen awareness and understanding of wealth risk management by incorporating risk considerations in all activities undertaken to enhance shareholder value.
- Support and ensure that business management fully considers and effectively manages Wealth Risk in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Assist with internal, external, and regulatory audits.
- Maintain close relationships with Global Business and Risk functions.
- Responsibility for MENAT wealth risk management spans all wealth business lines, functions and subsidiary companies and includes all products, activities, processes and systems in UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar.

Requirements

**To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements**:
**Experience & Qualifications**
- Qualifications include a graduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
- Some knowledge and understanding of wealth management products, including investments, pensions and protection.
- Strong understanding of relevant local regulations in UAE. Knowledge of regulations in other MENAT markets is a plus.
- Strong understanding of risk management techniques and measures including risk assessment methods
- A broad background in wealth management, with management positions held preferably across a variety of areas such as front office, support and control roles.
- Ability to work across all levels of the organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the business unit level
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
- Understands and interprets complex business requirements and present complex issues in a straightforward manner
