About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Merchant Business Development Director to join our team at Careem. As a key member of our business development team, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive merchant partnerships strategies that drive growth and revenue for our Careem Pay business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Merchant Partnerships Strategies: Create and implement strategies to acquire and retain high-value merchant partners, leveraging your expertise in merchant relationships and business development.
  • Lead Deal Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute deals, from business case development to deal structuring and negotiation.
  • Revenue Model Development: Work with our finance team to build revenue models for merchant segments, including pricing, pricing models, transaction economics, and merchant economics.
  • Acquirer Market Mapping: Identify and implement the most efficient cost and reliability models for merchant segments.
  • Merchant Partnership Framework Development: Contribute to the development of our merchant partnership framework and operational strategy, identifying areas for improvement and new opportunities.
  • Agile Methodology: Collaborate with product and technology teams to communicate effectively and drive business outcomes.
  • Partner Ecosystem Growth: Lead the growth of Careem Pay through strategic partnerships across the region.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 5 years of work experience in a merchant or growth-related role, preferably with a payments provider.
  • Education: Degree from an accredited university.
  • Skills: Strong merchant and partner relationships, ability to flourish with minimal guidance, proactive, and handle uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Network: Proven track record as a born networker with a commercial edge and entrepreneurial mindset.
