Moral, Cultural and Social Studies Teacher/Coordinator Role Profile

Star International School, Al Twar is looking to recruit a strong and resilient Moral, Cultural and Social studies Teacher/Coordinator to join our growing school in August 2023.

Star International School Al Twar and Al Qusais is a part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP). The International Schools Partnership (ISP) is a growing group of committed colleagues in financially responsible schools around the world, all of which aim to be the school of choice in their local area. Learning is at the heart of everything we do for our pupils, colleagues and parents. We are committed to getting better, all the time. Star International School is a bespoke English Curriculum school catering to students from FS1 to Year 13 and is located in the heart of Dubai. Star currently has 625 students.

Moral, Cultural and Social Studies Teacher/Coordinator Key Responsibilities
- We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative teacher to lead within our excellent MOE - Moral, Social and Cultural Studies Department for the academic year 2023-2024.
- Each member of the department is seen as an integral part of the team, working together, sharing ideas and developing resources cohesively. As a member of our team, you will be passionate about your teaching and committed to improving your own practice alongside like-minded professionals to ensure high-quality learning environment for all.
- To make a full contribution to the processes of planning, resource management, policy development and implementation across the school through the effective leadership and management of your specific specialist area.
- To make a full contribution to ensuring high expectations and standards in all aspects of school life.
- To work flexibly in supporting the day-to-day organisation and management of the school.
- To articulate a vision for their specialist area in the context of the school’s ethos and vision.
- To deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Teamwork and collaboration.
- To be a good communicator at all levels.
- Be committed to developing positive relationships with all members of the school community
- Working alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet requirements of the curriculum.
- Working with parents to ensure the happiness and best academic outcomes for all children.
- Working cooperatively with curriculum support staff (where applicable) to support children’s development.
- Promoting and ensuring student development, progress and well-being.
- Leading and managing MOE - MSCS department.
- Promoting and representing the Specialist Subject area of the MOE Subjects.
- Managing resources.
- To be accountable to the SLT and ultimately the School Principal

Specific Duties

Teaching and learning:

- Ensuring the quality of provision for the Curriculum and the use of Data and Assessment.
- Clear understanding of the Curriculum requirements in line with the MOE/KHDA expectations.
- Monitoring and tracking the Curriculum and Assessment across the MOE - MSCS provision.
- Organising the classroom provision and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Planning, preparing and presenting sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
- Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching.
- Observing and assessing children in line with school assessments.
- Being reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning and curriculum to reflect this.
- Promote the intellectual, moral, spiritual, cultural, physical and personal abilities and aptitudes of the students in her/his classes and provide guidance and advice to students on educational and relevant social and other matters.
- Support with the self-evaluation and school improvement process for the school in your key area.
- Planning and delivering CPD to staff in this area.
- To develop and deliver parental engagement to work with key stakeholders and deliver key messages.
