Markets and Securities Services (MSS) business products and services include Trading and Sales across FX, Equities, Securities Financing, Debt Markets, Balance Sheet Management and Securities Services

The role holder will oversee the control and conduct framework within the regional MSS business for MENAT, supporting the regional business by owning and ensuring effective execution of global governance, assurance, conduct and control standards, or defining where such standards are specific/relevant to the regional business.
They will play a key role in helping support and where necessary leading, the enhancement/improvement of controls and best practice within region.

Key Accountabilities

The role of the NFR is to help facilitate the business in the effective design of the control framework and to ensure its ongoing operating effectiveness within an agreed risk appetite.

Key accountabilities to include:

- Control Management
- Own the regional control framework and agenda, specifically:

- Review/approve new policies and standards for and on behalf of the region
- Ensure effective implementation or completion of any remediation actions
- Assist in the design and to help monitor the operating effectiveness of the control framework, escalating control issues as necessary.
- Design and implement policies and procedures for and on behalf of MSS in accordance with the Bank’s policy / risk appetite.
- Work closely with support functions to ensure robust controls are in place and act as an additional point of escalation with regards to downstream control issues. Influence support functions in their remediation of control gaps.
- Ensure sustainable operation and effectiveness of controls implemented under the FRB programme.
- Act as NFR representative for Regional sites where required
- Ensure controls oversight and support for regulatory or other controls.
- Perform ad-hoc control reviews when requested by head of business.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Requirements
Key skills required:

- Bachelor’s degree is must to obtain visa in UAE
- Degree holder, preferably with a professional qualification, with strong knowledge of internal control and risk management in markets
- Strong experience (minimum 5 years) in business management, Audit or risk/control roles within a markets business
- Strong understanding of Markets business and products
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills to enhance procedures and controls
- Well developed leadership and people management skills, able to drive change and provide positive influence to achieve organisation goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to negotiate and work effectively with senior business leaders across business lines and geographies
- Strong problem solving and prioritization skills and be able to perform multitask under pressure and with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude and ability to think and act independently as well as take ownership of tasks.
