We are seeking an experienced Dry Cargo Broker to join our team at Clarkson PLC in Dubai. As a key member of our Dry Cargo team, you will be responsible for negotiating and fixing spot cargoes on various routes and allocating contract cargoes to assigned ships to maximise the vessels' financial results within the prevailing market conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Drive Revenue and Develop Client Base

Negotiate and secure new business opportunities with existing and potential clients to drive revenue growth and expand our client base.

Market Tonnage to Customers/Shipper/Charterers

Market tonnage to customers, shippers, and charterers to achieve maximum income for the owners and meet the needs of our clients.

Negotiate Spot/Time Charters

Negotiate spot and time charters to achieve maximum income for the owners and ensure that our clients' needs are met.

Coordinate Cargo Allocation

Coordinate the allocation of spot and contract cargo to the ship assigned to the specific service to maximise space utilisation, minimise the number of port and berth calls, and maximise the voyage financial results.

Set Up and Negotiate Deals

Set up and negotiate deals with clients, including presenting the business to potential clients, negotiating the main terms of a contract or sale, and seeing it through to its conclusion.

Coordinate with Chartering and Operation Departments

Coordinate with the chartering and operation departments to ensure that our clients' needs are met and that our vessels are utilised efficiently.

Coordinate Trans-Shipment

Coordinate all aspects of trans-shipment for respective cargoes to ensure that our clients' needs are met and that our vessels are utilised efficiently.

Maintain Voyage Records and Documentation

Maintain current voyage records and documentation to customers for tonnage loading within the service.

Stay Up-to-Date with Market Trends

Stay up-to-date with the latest market trends, products, and clients to identify new business opportunities and provide market insight and trade ideas to clients.

Travel and Attend Client Events

Travel and attend client social events as required to build strong relationships with our clients and promote our services.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Successful Track Record of Shipbroking

A successful track record of shipbroking within Dry Cargo, with experience of handymax, supramax, and/or panamax.

Effective Communication Skills

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

Fluency in English, Chinese, and/or Korean

Fluency in English, Chinese, and/or Korean to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Personable and Engaging

Personable and engaging, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

Driven and Self-Motivated
