About the Role:

Serco is seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in driving our sustainability initiatives and contributing to the development of innovative renewable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement expert solutions for renewable energy production from sustainable sources, including wind, solar, and hydro or marine power.
  2. Conduct research and develop plans on the use of new machinery and equipment, production processes, and ways to minimize the impact on the environment.
  3. Advise project management teams on the correct selection of sustainable sources to produce energy.
  4. Consult with clients on the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of solar power systems, onshore and offshore wind power systems.
  5. Develop plans to transition to alternative energy sources such as wind, wave, and solar power to reduce pollution and dependence on fossil fuels.
  6. Perform analyses of potential sites for wind farms based on factors such as wind speed, terrain, vegetation, and proximity to transmission lines and load centers.
  7. Review design structures such as wind turbines or solar panels.
  8. Advise on developing materials such as outer coatings to improve the efficiency of existing designs.
  9. Develop project documents on safe working practices.
  10. Conduct tests to measure the performance of equipment in real-world conditions and environments prior to installation when required.
  11. Analyze data from experiments or field observations to identify trends or causes of variation.
  12. Visit manufacturers to test equipment prior to selection.
  13. Work out the technical and economic aspects of new renewable energy sites, including wind farms, solar installations, and hydro or marine power.
  14. Carry out site and ground condition inspections for suitability prior to installation of equipment.
  15. Interpret tide, waves, and wind formations on sea, land, and coastal areas.
  16. Use computer modeling software to produce detailed designs and energy production estimates.
  17. Ensure that the installation and running of renewable energy sites meet environmental laws.
  18. Review project plans, schedules of work, and cost estimates.
  19. Advise project management on the integration of the renewable energy produced into existing systems.
  20. Test equipment and processes in a lab to ensure they are suitable for wide-scale industrial use.
  21. Review, write, and present technical reports.
  22. Liaise with energy providers, contractors, and other engineering and science professionals.
  23. Review the design of solar panels or wind turbines for commercial use, ensuring they are structurally sound, safe for humans to interact with, and able to withstand natural elements such as heat, wind, sandstorms, and rain.
  24. Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on conducting research to develop new technology for renewable energy production.
  25. Conduct environmental assessments of proposed construction or installation sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  26. Collaborate between project engineers and other professionals.
  27. Understand energy storage capabilities, microgrid, hydrogen, VPP, DSR, and transformers.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, engineering design, and mathematics.
  • Minimum + years of experience in the related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in renewable or sustainable energy.
