Key Responsibilities:

  1. Agency Operations: Carry out agency operations in accordance with ISO standards, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  2. Client Satisfaction: Ensure that client requirements are met within specified time periods, and that client complaints are addressed promptly and effectively.
  3. Communication: Maintain effective communication with principals, shippers, receivers, and port services regarding branch and department operations.
  4. Sub-Agent Management: Appoint, liaison, and control all sub-agents in other ports where we operate.
  5. Ship Agency Services: Provide effective ship agency services to vessels handled, including major incidents involving ships, such as oil spills, collisions with jetties, immigration, or injury to personal security/ITF problems regarding crew.
  6. Berthing and Sailing: Initiate arrangements for berthing and sailing of vessels under the control of the office.
  7. Master and Principals Instructions: Carry out the instructions of the vessel Master and Principals within the bounds of normal agency practice.
  8. Communication and Data Management: Ensure effective communication of data within the agency department and to accounts department.
  9. File Management: Ensure that all ship and cargo files are kept up-to-date and in an orderly fashion, enabling other personnel to be aware of current positions and operations.
  10. Vessel Visits: Visit vessels in port/during stay in port, dry-docks, meeting the vessel Master, etc.
  11. Customs and Port Services: Monitor the company's procedures for dealing with Customs, Immigration Authorities, Port Health, Port Authority, and other port services.
  12. Marketing and Sales: Local and international marketing of our services, including making sales calls to prospective customers and current principals.
  13. Operations Meetings: Hold regular operations meetings and transfer best practices, knowledge, and experience to junior members of the team.
  14. Debtors and Pre-Funding: Follow up on all pre-funding and ensure all funds received, following up on debtors.
  15. Vessel Tracking and Debtors: Keep track of vessel tracking databases and debtors databases with weekly follow-ups.
  16. Local Marketing: Local marketing and visits to clients and prospective customers.

Requirements:

  • Port Engineer: 2 years (Required)
