Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Kitchen Commis to join our team at Eathos. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in assisting our chefs with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation
    • Assist in preparing ingredients according to established recipes and instructions.
    • Support the chefs in cooking and presenting menu items in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Kitchen Operations
    • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for food preparation, cooking techniques, and recipe execution.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including countertop, cutting boards, utensils, and equipment.
  • Inventory Management
    • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, checking for quality, freshness, and proper storage conditions.
    • Monitor and control food stock levels, ordering adequate quantities and rotating inventory.
  • Health and Safety
    • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling, storage, and labeling.
    • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient workflow, smooth communication, and timely completion of tasks.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Participate in training sessions and culinary workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Show willingness to learn from senior kitchen staff and strive for continuous improvement in culinary skills.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Culinary education or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Previous experience as a kitchen Commis or in a similar role within a restaurant or culinary establishment is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and cooking methods is desirable.
  • Passion for food and a strong willingness to learn and grow in a culinary career.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with the kitchen team and effectively take direction from supervisors.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy objects as required in a kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards in a kitchen environment.
  • Valid food handling and safety certifications are a plus.
