The Strategic Communications Manager is responsible for developing and disseminating newsworthy messages to internal stakeholders (staff and faculty) at the American University of Sharjah. Working closely with the university's administration and human resources department, they will understand the institution's environment and craft messages and campaigns that build and enhance that narrative.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and Oversee Internal Communications Content Calendar: Create a comprehensive content calendar that aligns with the university's strategic goals and objectives.
  2. Develop Campaigns that Build Our Narrative and Engage Our Audience: Design and implement campaigns that promote the university's mission, values, and achievements to internal stakeholders.
  3. Responsible for Disseminating AUS Messages Internally in a Creative Way: Develop innovative ways to communicate the university's messages to staff and faculty, including the creation of internal newsletters, emails, and other communication channels.
  4. Responsible for Moderating Internal Content and Messaging: Ensure that all internal communications are accurate, timely, and consistent with the university's brand and messaging.
  5. Develop Campaigns and Initiatives that Build AUS's Employee Engagement and Reputation: Design and implement initiatives that promote employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction, and enhance the university's reputation as a great place to work.
  6. Oversee Content and Visual Development of Internal Newsletter: Lead the development of the university's internal newsletter, including the creation of engaging content, graphics, and design.
  7. Organize Internal Events, Town Hall Meetings, and Other Internal Engagements: Plan and execute internal events, town hall meetings, and other engagements that promote communication, collaboration, and teamwork among staff and faculty.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as communications, marketing, or public relations.
  2. Minimum of 10 Years Relevant Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in internal communications, marketing, or a related field, with a strong background in the industry.
  3. Awareness of HR Policies: A strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, including employment law and regulations.
  4. Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer software and systems, including Microsoft Office and other relevant tools.
  5. Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and messages to diverse audiences.
  6. Ability to Work Independently in a Collaborative Setting: The ability to work independently in a collaborative setting, with a strong sense of initiative and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  7. Positive, Outgoing, Detail-Oriented, and Capable of Managing Multiple Priorities and Projects Simultaneously: A positive, outgoing, and detail-oriented individual who is capable of managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, with a strong sense of organization and time management.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Master's Degree or Higher: A master's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as communications, marketing, or public relations.
  2. Experience in an Academic Environment: Experience working in an academic environment, particularly in higher education administration.
