Job Purpose

The Financial Accounts Manager oversees the accounting functions for an airline, focusing on all non-operational and non-technical revenue accounts. This role ensures adherence to established accounting standards and procedures while managing revenue and cost accounting for subsidiary entities. The manager will liaise with various internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, banks, auditors, and suppliers, to facilitate and resolve issues in accordance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the company's financial accounts related to costs and revenue, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, and suspense accounts to guarantee accurate financial transaction postings.
  • Deliver consolidated financial statements that comply with IFRS for all group companies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the implementation of financial ERP systems, ensuring integration with multifunctional systems.
  • Ensure all revenue channels across entities are managed effectively, achieving receivables as per credit terms and establishing robust internal controls to prevent revenue leakage.
  • Utilize available records to monitor direct sector costs and payments, analyzing variations against previous purchases and contracts.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes.
Continued Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare budgets for direct sector costs, analyzing actual costs versus estimates and communicating results to department heads.
  • Manage team performance, focusing on knowledge sharing, process improvement, and career development.
  • Set objectives and KPIs for team members, providing ongoing support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Ensure optimal resource management to achieve productivity aligned with the company's financial objectives.
  • Generate function-related reports for management review, ensuring financial planning and reporting are highlighted.
  • Oversee taxation functions, ensuring timely filing of returns and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage supplier payments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to agreed terms while addressing any related queries.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce from a recognized institution.
  • CA or CPA certification is preferred.
  • Professional training related to ancillary services is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Certifications in Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Auditing are beneficial.
Work Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years in corporate finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the airline industry.
  • Experience in a mid-sized organization operating on a regional or multinational level, preferably in the airline or travel sector.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial control principles.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with a proven ability to identify irregularities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, with a balance of technical expertise and interpersonal relations.
