Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Global Production Platform Engineer to join our team at Meta. As a key member of our SiteOps organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our global production data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert for compute and storage platforms, anticipating and diagnosing issues for data center operations teams, and escalating as necessary to hardware design and NPI teams.
  • Lifecycle Ownership: Provide end-to-end lifecycle ownership of hardware platforms and new technologies in the data centers, including verification testing through end-of-life decommissioning.
  • Complex Investigations: Drive complex technical investigations globally and spanning multiple disciplines, including Hardware, Software/Firmware, Networking, and Power & Cooling.
  • Proactive Issue Identification: Analyze the health of the global fleet of servers to proactively identify systemic issues and take appropriate action to quickly mitigate impact.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with HW Engineering, Release-to-Production, and Systems Integration teams to take new server and storage platforms into mass production in the data centers.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks early in new hardware programs and contribute to the development of test methods needed to characterize the product and ensure end-customer needs are met.
  • Operational Ownership: Act as a product owner for operational aspects of specific server and/or storage platforms, ensuring that outcomes of root cause analysis are addressed in collaboration with hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Issue Resolution: Issue timely alerts and fixes to operations teams and assure a robust feedback pipeline to engineering teams.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships and collaboration with engineering and cross-functional teams across the company, actively soliciting feedback to improve operational effectiveness as infrastructure scales.
  • Serviceability Feedback: Provide serviceability feedback on production hardware resulting in more efficient repair activities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience developing, troubleshooting, or testing IT hardware systems, with a strong background in integration testing and operation of compute and storage platforms.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Linux or Unix Operating Systems, demonstrated technical skills and experience creating documentation for users of all levels, and experience leveraging large volumes of data to improve decision-making processes and requirements in the hardware functional domain.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication experience and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and partner effectively within all levels of the organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications: BS or BA in electrical, mechanical, or hardware engineering, 6+ years of experience working in the NPI development lifecycle designing, troubleshooting, and testing IT hardware systems, and experience in data center system and process automation.
