About the Role

We're seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Representative to join our team at Groupon. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new small-sized businesses for our platform.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Seek out new business opportunities through cold calling and engagement to consult and close local deals.
  2. Develop a deep understanding of each merchant's business, including products, consumer demographics, consumer ratings, and competitive differentiation.
  3. Utilize knowledge of deal structure and strategy to reach Groupon's and merchants' desired outcomes and maximize profit.
  4. Take ownership of the contract negotiation process, dealing with margins, discounts, and other critical elements.
  5. Consistently achieve and/or exceed sales targets.
  6. Work with Merchant Development teams post-close to ensure a seamless transition of accounts and align on merchant strategy.
  7. Drive market growth for both quality of merchants and revenue.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
  2. 2-3 years of success in a sales role within a territory or for a product.
  3. Inside sales experience over the phone/email and social selling.
  4. Proven depth of knowledge and experience in transactional selling.
  5. High level of understanding and entry-level experience in relationship management with small-sized accounts & strong sales orientation.
  6. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in meeting sales quotas, sales negotiation, and problem-solving.
  7. Ability to demonstrate strong sales performance using sales instinct and judgment.
  8. High degrees of diligence and accountability, with evidence of personal results.
  9. Strong ability to follow direction and guidance.
  10. You're resilient, and possess the innate ability to inspire passion in others.
  11. You are able to confidently demonstrate ownership of your performance, always looking for ways to be more coachable and improve.
  12. Adaptable and can think on your feet; when faced with new challenges or tough conversations, you face them head-on.
  13. Accountable and balance multiple priorities flawlessly.
  14. Committed to a high standard of integrity and work ethic.
  15. You're an excellent listener and can also be assertive, persistent, and persuasive.
  16. Salesforce or other CRM experience a plus.
