Daily Responsibilities:
Your typical day will involve:

  • Providing technical assistance to employees from your home office.
  • Facilitating technical onboarding for new hires.
  • Offering infrastructure support during global events.
  • Managing new support cases via various communication channels.
  • Acting as an advocate for internal customers, ensuring timely updates.
  • Ensuring all support requests are addressed in accordance with our Service Level Agreement (SLA) and maintaining high customer satisfaction by setting clear expectations.
  • Contributing to a shared knowledge base and keeping it current.
  • Preparing and disseminating technical communications for both internal and external audiences.
  • Prioritizing tasks to focus on the most critical and urgent issues first.
  • Continuously learning as our products and services evolve.
  • Maintaining regular communication and information sharing with team members, both locally and remotely.
  • Identifying and proposing enhancements to improve service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four-year degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution. Preferred fields include Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.
  • Experience in a Linux environment, acquired through academic courses or professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Linux, particularly in the installation, troubleshooting, and basic configuration of recent Ubuntu Desktop versions.
  • Basic skills in desktop Linux usage, including file editing, web browsing, managing internet connectivity, and setting up printers/services/packages/external storage devices using command line tools.
  • Fundamental troubleshooting abilities, including log collection and basic configuration file adjustments.
  • Familiarity with safely installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, and repartitioning Ubuntu Linux machines, as well as recovering from installation failures.
  • Understanding of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Applications, and Single Sign-On.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, thrive in a dynamic environment, and manage the pressures of a customer-facing role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for internal events.

Additional Skills That Would Be Beneficial:

  • Basic programming knowledge (bash, python, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C or C++, Go).
  • Previous customer support experience is advantageous.
