**Organisation Unit Purpose**:
- Appraisal, assessment & control of credit exposures.
- Control function, which ensures group takes on assets which meets the Group’s standards on lending in terms of risk.
- Set up Credit policies which allow us to process credit proposals from Business Units (Wholesale Banking, BUB, PB - UAE & International) within agreed timeframe / turn-around time and ensure response levels.
- Ongoing measurement of Credit risk
- Assessment of provisions, portfolio
- Setting up of delegated limits.
**Job Purpose**:
- Assessing credit proposals for Wholesale Banking portfolio (Corporate/ Contracting & FI) to ensure these fit within Bank’s strategy and Credit policy.
- Meet customers to get first
- hand view of the proposal and undertake site visits as required.
- Maintain oversight over all deals from origination to settlement and flag adverse developments if any. Work closely with the respective credit team in deal processing & management of the portfolio.
- Appraising/recommending credit proposals beyond DLA to Head of Credit Review/ Head of Credit Risk Management/ CCO/ Group CRO and Management Credit Committee or Board Credit & Investment Committee (MCC/ BCIC).
- Ensure that lending proposals are in compliance with Bank’s credit policy and also in compliance with UAE Central Bank’s regulatory norms.
- Monitoring portfolio of assets and exercising close surveillance to ensure its healthy status; research and analyze both micro and macro development in relation to credits to provide anticipatory warnings of risks, foresee danger signals and advise measures to prevent losses. Identify weak accounts within allocated portfolio and recommend for downgrading - with or without provisioning.
- Control, monitor and follow-up credits via review of irregular and past due accounts, pending documentation and overdue renewal accounts.
- Interacting with business managers up to the level of Team Leaders.
- Liaise with Internal/External Auditors, Central Bank Auditors, Consultants on various credit and related issues.
- Undertaking special projects and assignments in credit area
**Main Tasks**:
- Maintain Service Quality and adherence to TATs **(measured via Track Soft)**:
- Proactive Business Support/Quality of interaction with BUs (to be 2 way)
- Understand Customer Needs/undertake visits as required
- Contribute to successful delivery of LOS (nCino) & peripheral system project implementation by providing timely feedback & ideas for improvement of process, policy requested by the project team.
- Contribute towards policy revisions, industry reviews besides authorities & controls.
- Proactiveness to provide suggestions for overall improvement in policy, procedures or processes
- Initiative and involvement in special projects from time to time **(measured by actual projects).**:
- Quality of Credit Recommendations &/or approvals; necessary escalations/ discussions
- Adherence to Policy/Processes/Guidelines
- Undertake sector/ portfolio reviews
- Accuracy & quality of comments on various reports; monitor exception reports & a/cs for timely inclusion on EAR as per control & monitoring requirements.
- Escalate covenant breaches & other audit remarks.
- Ensure proactive portfolio management through regular monitoring of a/cs, especially PD/OLEM/EAR/PROV forecast a/cs/ repayments & reduce NPLs
- Monitor all exceptions on a proactive basis & minimize review overdue/ covenant overdue/ DDR.
- Contribute towards achieving acceptable INA rating as a minimum **(measured by GCD INA rating) **.
- IFRS9 Governance & Staging to be completed per policy.
- Initiative to improve knowledge and technical skills
- Develop product, policy& procedures knowledge.
- Effective interaction with colleagues to share knowledge & aim at Customer Satisfaction **(measured via GCD CSAT scores)**:
- Teamwork for various initiatives such as ideas and action as detailed below.
- Improvement of credit request processing End to End TAT.
- Refer potential prospects to business - buyer/suppliers or through analytics.
- Any other special tasks assigned by CCO/ Head of Credit Risk Management/ Head of Credit Review.
**Person Specifications**:
**Education**:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Masters/ Diploma/certification in banking/finance
- CA/CFA/CPA
**Experience**:
- 15-18 years in Banking, of which min 10 years in Corporate & FI credit.
- Credit experience should include knowledge of Corporate products including Trade finance, Treasury and Syndications/ Club deals, Real estate and Project finance, with a good knowledge of market dynamics.
- Substantial UAE experience is essential
- Should preferably have approval authorities.
Can be exempted for UAE nationals.
**Knowledge & Skills**:
- Proficient level of credit assessment skills, and good writing and communication skills
