Job Purpose

To develop the inventory management strategy to control costs, reduce expenditure, and rationalize inventory at the University of Sharjah. Plan, organize, and manage inventory movement, storage, and control; and ensure that proper inventory accuracy is maintained. As well as identify opportunities for operation inventory improvements and adequate implementation of operational best practices and UOS bylaws.

Main accountabilities & expectations
- Lead the development and execution of the Warehouse and Logistics section's processes and procedures and ensure that they are in alignment with the market's best practices and UOS's requirements. As well as develop an inventory management strategy to control costs, reduce expenditure, and rationalize inventory.
- Monitor day-to-day warehouse and logistics activities and ensure that business processes and workflows are executed correctly and efficiently. As well as ensure that work tasks are distributed between team members fairly and professionally.
- Provide leadership to the team members in order to build and develop their organizational capabilities, provide them with development opportunities such as training, coaching, etc., as well as report on their job performance as required.
- Assess, develop, and implement suitable inventory management processes to manage the movement, storage, and distribution of goods and materials across the university and help enhance supply chain activities at UOS.
- Oversee activities related to organizing the warehouse, storing and categorizing goods and materials, processing shipments, and keeping track of the cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeline targets.
- Manage the movement, storage, and distribution of goods and materials across the University campus, and resolve any issues related to delivery inconsistencies, delays or complaints.
- Monitor all warehouse and logistics operations in terms of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency, as well as monitor supplier performance in terms of delivery time and product conditions.
- Coordinate with the Fixed Assets team under the Facilities Planning and Management Department in order to tag, track and accurately maintain all fixed assets at the university campuses by conducting quarterly cycle counts, yearly inventory counts, and reporting any discrepancies, lost assets to the concerned department(s).
- Participate in the preparation of the department's annual budget, in collaboration with the director and other heads, and track the section's expenditures and ensure they are within the limits of the budget.
- Lead warehouse and logistics-related projects that help support and improve the department and the university in general, and supervise the project team, ensuring each member completes their work tasks accurately and on time. As well as supervise all project phases from requirement gathering to implementation.
- Ensure that Health and Safety standards are implemented at all times, and report any matters of concern to the line manager to take the necessary action.
- Provide various reports, strategic plans, analyses, and statistics related to the Warehouse and Logistics Section when requested by the director.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
- Excellent knowledge of best-practiced methods for importing goods and services.
- A good understanding of finance for stock management.
- Technical and IT skills, particularly when it comes to database management and spreadsheets.
- A good understanding of the legal requirements of operating a warehouse.
- Excellent customer services skills.
- Leadership skills.
- Project and time management skills.
- Experience in managing teams, including the development and delivery of on-the-job training and mentoring.
- Ability to work with diverse business units and to quickly adapt and understand key business challenges.
- High integrity and openness combined with a commitment to good governance.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively under mínimal supervision when given clear and concise instructions.
- Ability to exercise initiative, implement change, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
- Minimum of Master's Degree in Business Administration, preferably in logistics and material handling or a relevant discipline.
- 12-14 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
- Professional qualifications in Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Management, Material Handling, or Storage and Logistics Operations are required.
- Priority to UAE Nationals.
