To lead the development, execution and monitoring of the University of Sharjah's risk management framework as per the associated policies and procedures, in order to ensure the risk information is collected and shared in a relevant and timely manner, and enhance the process of proactive decision making among UoS entities.
- Main accountabilities & expectations
- Develop a Risk Management Framework in line with the best practice and standards such as integrated Management systems, publicly available specifications (IMS/PAS 99), Institute of Risk Management (IRM), and any other regulatory body.
- Oversee the UoS comprehensive insurance and risk management program. Assess and identify risks that could affect the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the University.
- Establish Risk Management policies and procedures to identify risks in the University services through developing a risk appetite statement and a mechanism for monitoring and reporting risks.
- Develop a risk profile of UoS through an annual basis risk assessment, and communicate it with all related stakeholders to ensure their awareness and commitment toward continuous improvement.
- Create a culture of accountability among UoS members by establishing clear accountability lines, enforcing responsibility, and identifying owners of risks, controls, and processes.
- Recommend and implement risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.
- Establish a risk incidents database including root cause analysis, related reports, employee reactions, and Line Mangers' decisions to recommend solutions for future similar cases.
- Provide leadership to the Risk Management team in order to build and develop their skills and capabilities, provide them with development opportunities such as training, coaching, etc., as well as report on their performance.
- Coordinate with the Compliance and Internal Audit Office to maintain UoS stability, compliance, risk protection and integrity at all levels.
- Provide expert advice to the Chancellor and senior leadership on all issues related to risk management.
- Provide various reports, strategic plans, analysis and statistics related to the Office of Risk Management when requested by top management.

- Preferred Qualification & Experience
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Risk Management, Internal Control or a relevant discipline.
- More than 15 Years of UAE experience in leadership position preferably in higher education institutions.
- Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification is a must.
- A Masters in Business Administration, Strategy or Leadership is a plus.
- Priority to UAE Nationals.
