To be responsible for data gathering and developing a database management system for the Research Outreach Section. As well as manage and maintain a research contact database including academic, industrial, and governmental personnel using various data analysis tools, in order to produce meaningful results, facts, and trends that contribute to the decision-making process at the University of Sharjah.
- Main accountabilities & expectations
- Design, develop and manage research contacts database, spreadsheets, and other data tools in accordance to the line manager's input, needs and views.
- Keep the database up to date with all relevant information including outreach organization and university contacts (locally and globally).
- Design, develop and maintain specific databases for the collection and tracking in order to report of research data and statistics in an accurate and timely manner.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and remove corrupted or unreliable data.
- Evaluate the usage of the database to improve contact segmentation and rate of communication with contacts.
- Develop and implement proper backup, restore, data validation, and security procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. As well as perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
- Propose and implement upgrades to the database, data entry, and data storing systems, and suggest new ideas for improving the design and the data engine, quality, and timeliness of current activities.
- Maintain, update and organize the database contacts on regular basis by adding new contract details, editing current contact, etc.
- Monitor database activities on daily basis to ensure the reliability and security of databases, and implement data security protocols and maintain database backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Define users based on the line manager's approval, and enable data distribution to the right user, in the appropriate format and in a timely manner. As well as provide technical support, guidance and assistance to users when needed.
- Extract and create various reports from the database system to prepare various analyses and statistics related to the Research Outreach when requested by the line manager.
- Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of any incoming or outgoing information/data. As well as determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.

- **Required Skills**:

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of operating the required software/hardware.
- Able to understand the meaning of common error messages and explain them to users in simple language.
- Good knowledge and experience with Oracle RAC, SQL Server or MySQL.
- Good knowledge in Database Management, Data Maintenance, Database Security, Developing Standards, Database Performance Tuning, and Operating Systems.
- Good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts.
- Good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Ability to design and implement a business process into functional and efficient code.
- Good conceptual and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Time management skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking.
- Ability to analyse large datasets.
- Ability to write comprehensive reports.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.
- High integrity and openness combined with a commitment to good governance.
- Flexibility and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Preferred Qualification & Experience

Minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a relevant discipline., or a relevant discipline.

2-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.

Priority is to UAE Nationals.
