Conference Manager

**FUNCTIONS**:
The conference manager is responsible for producing conferences from conception to completion and for the overall performance of each assigned conference.
Key Objectives
1. Formulate commercially attractive conference programmes through industry research
2. Identify and acquire high level speakers and manage their participation
3. Assist with marketing each assigned conference, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager
4. Sell delegate places for each assigned conference
5. Increase the database by researching new and existing leads
6. Manage the event for its duration
7. Maximise revenue on any given event
8. Meet or exceed personal targets set for each conference
9. Deliver assigned conferences on time and to budget
Key Tasks
1. Research and identify topics for upcoming assigned conferences
2. Undertake a commercial feasibility study for each assigned conference
3. Compile a valid, up-to-date industry based programme
4. Identify and contact potential speakers sourced from research, networking and referrals
5. Create and monitor correspondence to contact/invite speakers
6. Create, maintain and update a speaker database
7. To assist with preparing and implementing a conference marketing plan, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager
8. Create and maintain a potential delegate database, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager
9. To meet or exceed set delegate revenue targets by actively selling to repeat delegates, new clients and prospects - to convince the prospect of the benefits of attending
10. To be the main contact for speaker requirements (to include handling audio visual requirements and general speaker queries)
11. Compile and edit speaker abstracts and session overviews
12. Manage the event team to ensure the event runs smoothly on the day
13. To follow correct budgetary procedures to ensure assigned events are delivered to budget
14. To maximise return from suppliers - couriers, hotels, AV
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Educated to secondary level or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal, time management and organisational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Negotiation skills to maximise profits and minimise costs
- Commercial awareness
- Strong research skills
- Telesales experience
- Experience from working within a commercial events company
- 18 months conference production experience
- Industry knowledge and awareness
