Job Title: Business Development Manager – Lubricants (Africa Export B2B)

Experience: 5–6 Years minimum

Qualification: Technical Degree / Chemical Engineering + MBA (International Business preferred)

Languages: French mandatory (for West Africa markets)

Role Overview

This role is fully focused on Export B2B Lubricant Sales across West Africa.

The candidate must be highly experienced in selling lubricants, recycled base oil, and virgin oil to African markets, with deep connections to major importers and distributors.

The main responsibility is to identify, develop, and manage strong dealer networks in African countries, especially in West Africa. The candidate must have prior travel experience in Africa, an existing customer base, and strong relationships with large lubricant importers.

This position carries responsibility for sales, business development, channel expansion, and product P&L management.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales & Business Development (B2B Export)

Drive B2B export sales for lubricants, recycled base oil, virgin base oil, and raw materials for lube blending.

Identify, develop, and appoint local dealers, distributors, and importers across West Africa.

Grow existing business and ensure sustainable long-term sales.

Maintain strong relationships with key clients, traders, distributors, and blending plants.

Manage full sales cycle: lead generation → negotiation → closing → delivery → payment follow-up.

  1. Market Expertise & Channel Management

Strong understanding of lube oil blending plants, oilfield chemical blending plants, industrial manufacturing end-users, and local distribution channels.

Deep knowledge of lubricant quality grades, applications, and consumption patterns in Africa.

Monitor competitor activity, pricing, supply trends, and market intelligence.

Expand channel sales and penetrate new market segments.

  1. African Region Specialty

Must have previously travelled extensively in West Africa.

Must already know major importers, traders, and large lubricant buyers in Africa.

Ability to work independently on the ground and build strong regional presence.

Must speak French to communicate in West African markets.

  1. Operations, Logistics & Compliance

Knowledge of export documentation, customs rules, port regulations, and African government procedures for lubricant imports.

Coordinate with shipping agents, transporters, freight forwarders, and customs teams.

Ensure smooth execution of orders, shipments (by road/sea), delivery schedules, and customer satisfaction.

  1. Team & Reporting

Manage Junior BDMs located across Africa.

Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports, customer analysis, and forecast reports.

Support management in pricing strategy, product development, and P&L improvements.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong B2B selling skills in Lubricants, Base Oil, Oilfield Chemicals, or Industrial Chemicals.

Proven track record of sales growth in African markets (mandatory).

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

High level of independence, initiative, and on-ground activity.

Strong understanding of supply chain, export operations, and international trade.

Must have a valid driving license.

Proficiency in French and English.

Ability to travel frequently (up to 50–70%) to West Africa.
