About the Job The Sales Manager, Conference and Events secures business to meet financial annual targets related to Conference and Events, Outside Catering and group room revenue. The role involves planning meetings and events, coordinating with hotel operations and clients before, during and after each event, and acting as the main contact for event planning and contract administration. Responsibilities Satisfy client needs while optimizing hotel revenue through strategic yield management and upselling of hotel facilities. Work closely with the hotel sales team to achieve monthly sales targets. Collaborate with Banqueting Operations to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business. Sends all correspondence to clients regarding banquet events, such as proposals, confirmations, contracts and amendments. Conduct site inspections, client entertainment and familiarization visits. Establish and maintain files of major accounts and bookings in the accounts management system. Establish parameters, provide quotes and negotiate prices with customers for group business. Ensure selling strategies are adhered to during negotiations and maximize upselling opportunities. Understand the overall market, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand. Gain understanding of the property’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business issues and offering better business solutions. Ensure all requests are handled within the set timeframe. Secure information assets to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information. Support customer loyalty and the property’s brand standards by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. Build strong relationships with customers, guests and colleagues to fully understand their needs and serve them effectively. Set a positive example for Sales, Reservations and Conference Sales colleagues. Handle guest complaints and disputes. Meet with guests during pre‑ and post‑convention meetings to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels and overall satisfaction. Recommend appropriate features and services that best meet the customer’s needs and exceed expectations. Ensure an excellent working relationship with all colleagues within the hotel. Utilize all available on‑job training tools for colleagues. Attend weekly Conference & Events meetings with the operational team to communicate new events and existing ones. Attend weekly and monthly department meetings and prepare account performance reports accordingly. Keep all files up to date with the latest booking information. Conduct site visits as required by hotel operation. Participate in client entertainment with the sales department as required. Join sales calls with the team as required. Qualifications Degree or Higher National Diploma equivalent in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a hotel and/or administrative position selling in hospitality. Previous work experience in Conference and Events and/or Sales in a managerial position. Previous experience working in a luxury hotel environment. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in all relevant applications. Prior experience with Delphi preferred. Hotel pre‑opening experience desirable. Ability to understand guest needs and expectations and deliver superior customer service with minimal input from others. Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative. Positive attitude and good communication skills. Ability to plan and organize workload. Effective time management, communication and presentation skills. Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations. Problem‑solving skills. Fluency in English and at least one of Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Russian.
