To provide comprehensive market riskoversight and control of the Global Markets (GM) function on a nearreal time basis and in compliance with bank Policies regulatoryguidelines and financial market environment in order to ensure GMand the bank operate within agreed risk appetite and are notexposed to unacceptable losses in compliance with internal andexternal policies guidelines and regulations.

KeyAccountabilities include;

StrategicContribution

  • Ensureeffective cascading of the functional strategy into departmentbusiness plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontalintegration with other interfacing departmentalstrategies.

PeopleManagement

  • Manage theeffective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadershipof the Group Market Risk Management department by setting ofindividual objectives managing performance developing andmotivating staff to maximise departmentalperformance.
  • Lead the talent developmentinitiatives for the assigned department collaborating withtechnical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability oftalent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as arole model and drive adherence to organisational values and ethicsby employees of the assigned department to foster a value drivenculture within theGroup.

 Budgetingand FinancialPlanning

  • Manage thepreparation of the departmental budget and monitor financialperformance versus the budget while ensuring all departmentalactivities are conducted in line with the approvedguidelines.

PoliciesSystems Processes &Procedures

  • Manage andensure effective implementation of Market and Liquidity Riskfunctional policies procedures and controls covering all areas ofassigned department activity so that all relevantprocedural/legislative requirements fulfilled while delivering aquality costeffectiveservice.

RiskManagement Framework Oversight andControl

  • Develop andimplement the risk management framework / process comprising anendtoend oversight and control mechanism of risks and theirinteractions to ensure it meets the banks requirements ineffectively identifying measuring monitoring reporting and managingrisks as per defined risk appetite andstrategy. 
  • Liaison with Global Marketsto ensure an ongoing effective service delivery as per requirementsand within timelines ensuring improvement to support the executionof the banks investment and trading strategies whilst protectingits capital and adhering to internal and external policiesprocedures and regulatoryrequirements. 
    • Managethe establishment and application of the risk appetite framework(includes metrics and limits) for Global Markets in conjunctionwith stakeholders from relevant functions to ensure setting the appropriate levelsand types of risktaking across for meeting the agreed uponobjectives.
    • Perform stress testing inaccordance with internal policies / regulatory guidelines in orderto evaluate potential effects of extreme market events and extrememovements in individual risk factors on the risk profile andfinancial standing and thus to enable the management of thesemarket risks at an overall portfolio level and/or for certainportfolios and risk types.
    • Oversee monitoringand reporting of all market risks on a daily basis to ensurecompliance with the banks risk appetite and the escalation ofaccurate timely and relevant information to all concernedstakeholders to enable effectivedecisionmaking.
    • Oversee counterparty creditrisks in order to ensure that the bank is safeguarded from defaultrisks on derivativetransactions. 
    • Provide adhoc reportson market risks and stress testing as necessary and required toensure transparency on the risk profile facilitate theunderstanding of market risk drivers across all levels of the bankand enable decisionmaking at multiplefronts. 

Dataand Collateral Management

  • Manage and controlmarket & static data coordinating with the relevantfunctions and developing plans to address gaps to ensureavailability and relevance of data.
  • Oversee andcoordinate the development of data extraction and processingqueries to provide required data in a timely and accuratemanner.
  • Provide data support and automationassistance to the risk management departments to facilitateeffective implementation of risk managementprocedures.
  • Oversee Collateral Management forboth CSA and GMRA ensuring adherence to international regulationsand protection of the banksinterest.

ComplianceChecks

  • Conductcompliance checks to ensure trades are in conformance withestablished policies and guidelines.
  • Lead theimplementation of OTC Clearing & EMIR / Dodd Frankregulations to ensure organisational compliance to regulatoryrequirements.
  • Provides guidelines andassistance to treasury front office and back office in theimplementation and maintenance of risk management systems ensuringadherence to all relevant policies standards andpractices.
  • Act as an active stakeholder for allongoing integration activities to ensure seamless Market RiskManagement operations.
  • Direct and overseeprojects pertaining to market risk oversight and control to ensureprojects are delivered within specified budgets times framesquality scope and resourceparameters.

ContinuousImprovement

  • Lead theidentification of opportunities for continuous improvement andsustainability of systems processes and practices consideringglobal standards productivity improvement and costreduction.

Reporting

  • Ensurethat all department reports are prepared timely and accurately andmeet Group requirements policies and qualitystandards.

Qualifications:

MinimumQualification

  • Bachelorsdegree in Finance or relateddiscipline.
  • Masters degree in BusinessAdministration or related discipline ispreferred.

MinimumExperience

10 years relevantexperience in the banking sector with at least 4 years in similarpositions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilitiesin the Risk Management / Global Marketsfunction.
