As a key member of the Georgia-Pacific LLC team, the Safety and Reliability Department Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities- Drive Safety Excellence: Continuously promote a culture of safety throughout the organization, encouraging employee involvement and accountability in identifying and mitigating hazards.
- Lead Safety Training: Provide comprehensive safety training to team members, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
- Optimize Operations: Utilize Work Process to develop job plans, track work completion, and promote preventive and predictive maintenance, ensuring all departments operate efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and Manage Teams: Facilitate team development and growth, review and manage performance, and build employee commitment and ownership.
- Identify and Address Issues: Monitor the quality of work, provide direction to team members to maximize efficiency, and assist with troubleshooting and solving production issues.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Interact with key operations personnel, including Plant Manager, Supervisors, Reliability Manager, Human Resources Manager, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, maintenance personnel, and employees at all levels of the site organization.
- Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or military environment, with two (2) or more years of supervisory or management experience.
- Leadership: Experience in leading a department in EH&S, Reliability, Production Cost, and Quality Excellence.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge and experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to learn various PC-based production and operations applications.
- Flexibility: Ability and willingness to work a flexible work schedule and in an industrial manufacturing plant, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
- Safety: Ability and willingness to work safely and promote safe work practices.
- Employee Performance Management: Experience in employee performance management and change management as it relates to furthering our MBM-based culture.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical engineering, or a similar discipline, with three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in a wood products environment -OR- Associate's Degree in a technical field, with five (5) or more years of supervisory or management experience in a wood products environment.
- Technical Skills: Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as SAP, MP2, or ActivPlant.
