About the Role

As a Mental Health Technician at Health ECareers, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients in an acute mental health treatment setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and Maintain Therapeutic Relationships

Develop and maintain strong, empathetic relationships with patients, communicating effectively through various means, including phone, secure messaging, video, letters, and documentation.

Administer Medication and Treatments

Administer medication and treatments to patients, perform vital signs, and follow escalation pathways as needed to ensure optimal patient care.

Facilitate Education and Support

Attend, participate in, and facilitate classes and workshops as needed to support patient education and well-being.

Coordinate Care Transitions

Coordinate end-of-episode care and After Visit summaries under the direction of the care team to ensure seamless transitions in patient care.

Document Patient Information

Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient information, including chart reviews, identification of relevant data, and transmission of refill requests.

Collaborate with Care Teams

Participate as a team member in all unit activities, reporting observations, documenting findings, and asking questions to clarify patient needs.

Implement Treatment Plans

Implement patient treatment plans in coordination with the treatment team to ensure effective care.

Monitor Patient Progress

Monitor patient behavior and changes in condition, notifying treating clinicians and the care team as necessary.

Model Positive Attitudes

Act as a role model in maintaining a hopeful and positive attitude in problem-solving, promoting a supportive environment for patients and colleagues.

Ensure Supply and Medication Availability

Ensure that necessary supplies and medications are ordered and available for patient care.

Collect and Document Data

Collect and document data as clinically indicated, participating in daily data acquisition processes to support quality care.

Support Patient Self-Development

Promote and assist patients in developing self-help skills, empowering them to take control of their mental health.

Perform Additional Duties

Perform other related duties as necessary to support the team and ensure optimal patient care.

Requirements
  • Experience

Minimum six (6) months of experience working in an acute mental health treatment setting within the past four years.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program or otherwise qualified for California licensure as a Psychiatric Technician.

License and Certification

Psychiatric Technician License (California) and Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements

Knowledge of laws and regulations governing mental health services in California, willingness to develop/enhance competencies in managing the milieu in a PHF, and ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
