About the Role

Asterix Communications is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Road Infrastructure Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and devising solutions for a wide range of projects, including road infrastructure design and development.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and devise solutions for road infrastructure projects, including feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed designs, and preparation of technical specifications.
  2. Conduct engineering assessments, analyze data, and evaluate road conditions to identify and recommend appropriate design solutions.
  3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate road design with other infrastructure elements, including but not limited to drainage, utility, street lighting, and landscaping.
  4. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards throughout road project design and construction phases.
  5. Supervise and monitor junior engineers, providing guidance and technical support to facilitate their technical development.
  6. Liaise with clients, authorities, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate project requirements, resolve technical issues, and address any concerns.
  7. Monitor project progress, review design changes, and manage risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  8. Support in the preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, contributing to the development of proposals and bids.
  9. Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
  10. Maintain required technical quality of work.
  11. Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards, and legislative requirements related to discipline work scope.
  12. Assist Lead Engineer and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 10+ years of experience.
  2. Professional engineering accreditation from a recognized institution is preferred.
  3. Proven experience in designing and managing road infrastructure projects, preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
  4. In-depth working knowledge of Middle East Road design standards, regulations, and best practices in the region.
  5. Approved status by local authorities (e.g., RTA, DOT, and DM).
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex engineering challenges and propose effective solutions.
  7. Excellent project management abilities, including the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.
  8. Strong technical knowledge of highway design principles, standards, and software skills (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation).
  9. Delivering projects in BIM common data environments, application of Navisworks and similar 3D modeling tools for design and clash detection would be advantageous.
  10. Able to create base design models from agreed work scope with minimal guidance.
  11. Computer literate (database/spreadsheets).
  12. Ability to accept delegated responsibility for designated tasks.
  13. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
