  • Inventory Optimization: Ensure that parts inventory turns meet established targets, minimizing stock levels and maximizing turnover.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that all parts are properly tagged, enabling the dealership to recover full credit from the factory.
  • Stock Order Procedures: Supervise stock order procedures, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Special Ordering: Set and enforce a policy on the special ordering of parts, ensuring that stock orders represent at least a specified percentage of all orders.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals and identify areas for improvement.
  • Wholesale Parts Program: Develop and administer an aggressive wholesale parts program to produce profit and drive business growth.
  • Internal Customer Service: Ensure that the same high-quality level of service provided to outside customers is also provided to internal dealership customers.
  • Collaboration: Work with the service manager and body shop manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
  • Meetings and Communication: Attend managers' meetings, hold weekly department meetings, and analyze departmental operations and storage layout to revise as needed for maximum effectiveness.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to parts department employees, monitoring their payroll records and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Direct shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing and minimize delays.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor daily reports such as DOE, DOC, and sales productivity, developing and utilizing a lost sales tracking report to identify areas for improvement.
  • Sales Promotions: Develop sales promotions, taking advantage of all manufacturers' inventory co-op advertising to drive business growth.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Develop, enforce, and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction, handling customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership's guidelines.
  • Accounting and Collections: Ensure that all dealership purchases are properly accounted for before payment is made, assisting in the collection of past-due accounts.
  • Facilities and Safety: Supervise custodians to ensure that the work area is kept clean, enforcing safety requirements, including forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
