Job Overview

Wood Plc is seeking a highly experienced Senior Piping Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. As a key member of our Central Engineering Division, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality piping engineering services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement piping engineering procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Lead the development of technical assurance frameworks to ensure the quality and integrity of piping engineering work.
  • Monitor and report on competence standards to ensure that our team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Participate in incident investigations and provide technical expertise to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Set performance expectations for direct reports and provide guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Maintain and enhance your own competence and continuous development to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to our business units to ensure that piping engineering work is delivered to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that learning opportunities are captured and realized to improve our team's performance and capabilities.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in scope definition to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with our EPC contractors to oversee piping engineering work on major greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Promote effective communication and challenge within the EPC Contractors Engineering team to foster safe, cost-effective, fit-for-purpose, and constructible piping designs.
  • Provide technical leadership and decision-making for piping engineering work carried out by our EPC contractors.
  • Participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary to ensure that our projects meet the highest standards.
  • Provide technical assistance, direction, and support during construction and installation activities to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Liaise and report to our clients' senior management on piping engineering progress and issues.
  • Troubleshoot piping design issues, identify and resolve engineering and/or fabricator queries, and provide resolution for technical piping engineering problems.
  • Attend daily/weekly engineering progress meetings and generate status reports as required to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Manage the change process, including reviewing proposals, to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Assist construction personnel with general technical queries and details to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
  • Provide resolution for technical piping engineering problems, coordinate the application of solutions, and ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
  • Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the piping discipline and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
  • Stay up-to-date with applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum five (5) years (preferred) in the GCC region.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
  • Offshore experience is a must, while ADNOC experience is desired.
  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
  • Experience working in a multi-project/multi-disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects.
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
