Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the provision of ObGyn services to meet the needs of our patients and the community.

Job Functions & Key Accountabilities:

The Consultant will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing prenatal and postnatal care, including reviewing patient records and obtaining complete medical, family, and obstetrical history.
  • Treating diseases and injuries of the female reproductive system, including performing diagnostic procedures as required.
  • Preparing and reviewing case histories, obtaining data through interviews, and assessing patients to prepare a plan of care.
  • Ordering, evaluating, and reviewing laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, and performing diagnostic procedures as required.
  • Seeing walk-in patients and UCC referrals, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Inpatient Ward:

  • Rounding in the ward on assigned shifts, maintaining and updating SBAR handover sheets.

Operating Room:

  • Directing nurses in procedures for preoperative and postoperative care, including administering sedatives, prescribing diets, and preparing operative areas for patients.
  • Performing surgical procedures as privileged, treating patients with postoperative complications, and supervising nurses and midwives as required.

Labour and Delivery:

  • Supervising nurses, midwives, and specialist/GP as required, and performing normal and instrumental deliveries in maternity cases.
  • Treating OB emergencies, including intrauterine fetal demise, incomplete spontaneous abortion, missed abortion, and pregnancy complications.
  • Evaluating and preparing patients for Cesarean section, performing or assisting with surgery, and participating in satellite clinics and partner clinics.

Requirements:

  • Education: Board certified or MD in Ob/Gyn as minimum.
  • Duration and type of Experience: Experience of 3 years after Board preferred.
  • Skills: Laparoscopic and/or Urogynecology skills (at least one).
