About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Hotel Development and Investments Manager. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for evaluating and assessing the viability of potential hospitality projects, preparing contractual letters and agreements, and maintaining a file for each project under evaluation.

The role requires an experienced individual with a strong understanding of hotel development processes, hotel management, and franchise agreements. You will work closely with the Global Head of Development and relevant Directors of Development to support complex development activities, including screening potential projects, developing and reviewing feasibility analysis, and preparing contractual letters and pitch presentations.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing data to identify growth opportunities and potential challenges and developing financial models to project the financial performance of potential hospitality investments.
  • Effective collaboration with other corporate departments and stakeholders to leverage their expertise and inform the underwriting of a given project.
  • Preparing hotel operating financial projections according to USALI and reviewing projections shared by other stakeholders.
  • Assessing revenue projections, cost structures, and return on investment to support decision-making processes.
  • Conducting sensitivity analysis to identify key variables impacting financial outcomes.
  • Evaluating competitors in the hospitality sector, examining their strategies, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Preparing comprehensive investment proposals outlining the project's feasibility, risks, and potential returns.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and market trends.
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, highlighting the financial viability and potential challenges of proposed projects.
  • Conducting due diligence on potential investment opportunities, examining legal, financial, and operational aspects.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and economic indicators that may impact investment decisions.
  • Regularly updating the TUI financial model to industry standards and for in-depth analysis of assumptions used in modeling.
  • Actively participating in the project planning phase, working closely with stakeholders to define project objectives, outline deliverables, and establish realistic timelines.
  • Anticipating potential risks and developing mitigation strategies, working to minimize disruptions and ensure project progress remains on track.
  • Supporting all development-related administrative tasks during the hotel project lifecycle, while maintaining accurate records.
  • Actively promoting and enforcing quality control measures throughout the development process.
  • Effectively supporting and coordinating processes with the wider TUI BLUE team, fostering a collaborative environment and optimizing organizational performance.
  • Assisting to qualify management, franchise, or hybrid contract opportunities across regions.
  • Seeking out and building productive relationships with new and existing industry partners.
  • Collaborating and maintaining frequent contact with various internal stakeholders within TUI BLUE and wider TUI, such as Sales & Revenue, Legal, Operations, Technical, Finance, Commercial, Markets, Communications, etc.
  • Ability to work autonomously, planning daily activities and organizing travel schedules and travel-related expenses within an approved annual budget.
  • Helping drive company performance in terms of growth pipeline and contributing to the company's overall growth and financial performance.
  • Planning and general coordination of the yearly conventions, conferences, and all TUI corporate events.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual with a strong background in hotel development, feasibility, and investments. Key requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a hospitality consulting, asset management, feasibility, and/or investment analysis function.
  • Proficient use of Excel (use audit and financial modeling) and Microsoft Office generally.
  • Strong knowledge of USALI and in-depth financial operating ratios.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; fluency in English (additional foreign language/s a plus).
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time as required.
  • Proven industry experience within Africa and the Middle East.
  • Familiarity with the hotel industry with exposure to hotel development processes.
  • Hotel operations experience, exposure to hotel and non-hotel food & beverage operations.
