Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stables Manager to oversee the daily operations of our stables housing Arabian show horses. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of horse care, a passion for Arabian horses, and strong leadership skills to build and manage a team of stable hands and ensure the health and performance of our show horses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Horse Care and Nutrition
    • Develop and implement comprehensive horse care and nutrition programs tailored to each horse's specific needs.
    • Oversee and participate in the daily feeding, grooming, and exercise of horses, ensuring their health and well-being.
    • Monitor the health and behavior of horses, identifying and addressing any medical issues promptly.
    • Coordinate with veterinarians, farriers, and other equine professionals to provide top-notch care.
  • Stable Management and Operations
    • Lead and manage a team of stable hands, ensuring high standards of care and efficiency.
    • Develop and enforce stable policies and procedures, including biosecurity measures.
    • Manage inventory of feed, bedding, and supplies, ensuring timely procurement and restocking.
    • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of stables, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for horses.
  • Show Preparation and Logistics
    • Prepare horses for shows, including grooming, conditioning, and training.
    • Coordinate transportation and logistics for horses traveling to shows.
    • Manage the show schedule, ensuring horses are ready and in peak condition for competitions.
  • Facility Management and Maintenance
    • Oversee maintenance and repairs of stable facilities, arenas, and equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
    • Plan and coordinate improvements or expansions of stable facilities.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Maintain accurate records of horse care, expenses, and inventory.
    • Develop budgets and manage expenses within allocated resources.
    • Communicate effectively with horse owners, trainers, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide regular reports on stable operations and horse performance.
    Requirements and Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Equine Science, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in horse care and stable management.
    • Proven experience with Arabian horses and show horse preparation.
