Key Responsibilities:
  1. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
    • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, national, and international regulations.
    • Support the HSE Manager in ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
    • Maintain and update health, safety, and environmental documentation, including safety plans, risk assessments, method statements, and safety datasheets.
  2. Safety Audits and Inspections
    • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
    • Assist in the preparation and review of inspection reports, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
    • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
  3. Training and Development
    • Assist in organizing and conducting health, safety, and environmental training programs, inductions, and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors.
    • Ensure all personnel are adequately trained in safety procedures, emergency response, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Maintain training records and certifications, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental training requirements.
  4. Incident Reporting and Investigation
    • Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
    • Maintain incident records and prepare detailed reports for review by the HSE Manager and senior management.
    • Support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  5. Safety Communication and Reporting
    • Assist in the development and distribution of health, safety, and environmental communication materials, including safety bulletins, newsletters, and notices.
    • Support the HSE Manager in preparing health, safety, and environmental performance reports, statistics, and presentations for management review.
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between site personnel, management, and subcontractors on health, safety, and environmental matters.
  6. Emergency Response and Preparedness
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans and procedures for site operations.
    • Conduct emergency drills and simulations to ensure readiness and effectiveness of emergency response teams.
    • Maintain emergency equipment and supplies, ensuring they are readily available and in good working condition.
  7. Environmental Management
    • Support the implementation of environmental management programs, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
    • Assist in monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, including waste management, energy use, and emissions.
    • Participate in environmental audits and assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement and sustainability initiatives.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: A degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Certification in HSE (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.
  • Experience: 12 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles, preferably within the construction or facade industry.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to the construction and facade industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HSE software and tools (e.g. incident management systems, safety management software).
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations for improving health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
