Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastry Junior Sous Chef to join our team at Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for the production and presentation of high-quality pastries and baked goods, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pastry Production: Prepare, produce, and bake breads, rolls, breakfast pastries, and desserts according to standard recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Senior Executive Pastry Chef to create and recommend menu changes, ensuring alignment with customer preferences and market trends.
  • Decorating and Presentation: Decorate pastries and cakes with creativity and skill, ensuring visually appealing presentation.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain adequate supply of prepared products, ensuring proper storage and refrigeration, and minimizing spoilage and waste.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and train pastry section team members, empowering them to excel in their roles, and providing open communication and coaching.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe and secure work environment by adhering to company Health & Safety and Food Safety policies, and maintaining compliance with audit requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience: Five or more years of pastry cooking/baking experience, with supervisory experience.
  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent, with advanced degree or specialized training in Pastry highly desirable.
  • Certifications: Pastry/Bakery certificate or apprenticeship, and Food hygiene and HACCP certificate.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, knife handling, pastry & baked goods knowledge, and planning and organizing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Luxury Hospitality Experience: Previous experience in a similar role in a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Specialized Skills: Specialized in Pastry/Bakery, with ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, days, afternoons, and evenings.
