Job Purpose

The Aircraft Materials Coordinator is responsible for the strategic planning, initial provisioning, and replenishment of aircraft spare parts, including Rotables, Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE), Inflight Entertainment (IFE), tools, consumables, and commercial items. This role is crucial to ensure all operational and maintenance requirements are met efficiently during Line and Base Maintenance, as well as post-retrofit/refresh activities. Additionally, the officer will conduct inventory assessments to maintain optimal stock levels and ensure data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to guarantee material availability, supporting operations at agreed service levels to facilitate timely maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of inventory triggers and analyze component failure rates to uphold optimal inventory levels. Collaborate with engineering teams to align inventory with operational needs and maintain compliance with established guidelines.
  • Review non-moving and slow-moving inventory items as part of surplus management plans, identifying opportunities to reduce excess stock and enhance inventory efficiency.
  • Perform initial provisioning assessments for all aircraft spares and components, utilizing manufacturer recommendations to effectively support fleet expansion and ensure dispatch reliability.
  • Enhance staff performance through the MyBC system, recognizing high achievers and implementing development plans to align with departmental objectives.

Rotable Planning and Inventory Management

  • Oversee inventory at various locations, ensuring the availability of necessary materials and tools for operational support. Coordinate with relevant departments to facilitate timely material access.
  • Analyze the Bill of Material for planned maintenance work packages, collaborating with Material Planning, Procurement, Production Planning, and external suppliers to secure required materials and tools.
  • Conduct cycle counts and stocktaking of inventory to maintain accuracy against physical stock levels.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reviews of inventory metrics, including gross stock value and service levels, to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Address Aircraft On Ground (AOG) requirements by coordinating with maintenance teams and ensuring the availability of necessary materials and tools through effective collaboration with engineering and logistics partners.

Material Planning for Aircraft Components

  • Ensure adherence to material planning procedures and parameters for various aircraft parts, maintaining cost-effective stock levels.
  • Support supply chain objectives by monitoring key performance indicators such as AOG incidents, shortages, and inventory metrics, escalating critical issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in the periodic auditing of inventory parameters, recommending improvements to enhance operational metrics.
  • Facilitate data collection from technical documentation related to parts and vendors to support alternate parts advice procedures and class change requests.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Engineering, Materials, or Stores management.
  • Education: Completion of 12 years of schooling or equivalent.
  • Experience in an airline or MRO Engineering Materials & Stores environment or in Supply Chain Management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various supply chain management aspects, including Warehouse and Logistics, Repairs Management, Material Planning, Inventory Control, and Technical Purchasing.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of aircraft components and systems, along with experience using ERP systems for inventory management.
  • Strong analytical skills.
