We are seeking a highly experienced Compliance Risk Manager to join our team at Checkout Group. As a key member of our Compliance Team, you will be responsible for providing oversight and compliance advice to our onsite team in the UAE, ensuring risk management and mitigation policies are effectively implemented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance Oversight
    • Provide guidance and support to the onsite team on compliance matters, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Review and approve customer onboarding applications, ensuring necessary Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks are performed.
    • Maintain our regulatory licenses and applications in the UAE, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Regulatory Liaison
    • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies in the UAE, ensuring effective communication and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings as required.
  • Investigations and Compliance
    • Investigate alerts and suspicious activity reports (SARs), and draft notifications to regulatory bodies as required.
    • Participate in ad-hoc compliance projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Advisory and Governance
    • Lead audits and reviews of our Financial Crime Compliance program, ensuring effective implementation of policies and procedures.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and operating memos, ensuring they are up-to-date with regulatory requirements.
    • Develop compliance reporting and management information (MI) processes, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a senior compliance role, with a strong understanding of compliance topics, including KYC, AML/CFT, Sanctions, and Screening.
  • Previous experience as an appointed Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) is essential.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required, with Arabic language skills being an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in the UAE and Middle East markets, preferably within the fintech and payments compliance sectors.
  • A specific certification related to AML/CFT compliance, such as ACFCS, CFE, ICA Diplomas, or CAMS, is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement and deliver solutions.
  • Excellent organizational, partner management, and communication skills, with a willingness to expand technical knowledge in a broad range of projects.
  • A clear sense of accountability and a positive demeanor, with a can-do attitude and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Well-organized and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn continuously and stay up-to-date with the payments industry and its regulatory landscape.
