We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Compliance Officer & Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to spearhead our newly formed team in Dubai. This role is crucial in guiding our organization through the licensing process as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) under the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). As the Compliance Officer & MLRO, you will be instrumental in upholding First Digital Trust's integrity and ensuring adherence to compliant business practices with a focus on AML/CFT, financial crime prevention, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take a proactive approach in developing, implementing, and overseeing the compliance framework for our VASP entity, including the review of compliance policies, advising on business processes, and conducting training sessions.
  • Serve as the MLRO, ensuring compliance with VARA regulations and maintaining oversight of all related internal controls and reporting mechanisms.
  • Monitor and assess the organization-wide risk management framework and overall risk exposure associated with our operations.
  • Provide timely and accurate guidance to the business and report to senior management on compliance and risk-related issues.
  • Collaborate with various departments (e.g., Legal, Operations, Technology) to identify opportunities for enhancing compliance process automation and lead the implementation of these improvements.
  • Mentor and develop a team of compliance professionals, serving as a point of escalation for queries or concerns.
  • Foster a strong culture of risk and compliance, participating in the Compliance Committee to ensure the consistent application of best practices across the organization.
  • Stay informed about industry trends in regulatory compliance, emerging threats, and effective risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; a law degree is highly preferred.
  • Compliance certification (e.g., CAMS or ICA) is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance, particularly in AML/CFT, financial crime, internal audit, or risk management, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements in the digital asset or fintech sectors.
  • Experience in a VASP environment is preferred, although exceptional candidates from other financial services or fintech backgrounds may be considered.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver clear presentations to diverse audiences, including direct interactions with VARA. Proficiency in English is essential.
  • Demonstrated reliability in independent work, with sound judgment regarding issue escalation.
