About the Role

Talent Pal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join our team in the UAE. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Site Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments for current and new activities to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Establish Site WHS Training Matrix: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to ensure all employees receive the necessary training to perform their jobs safely.
  • Implement Site-Specific WHS Standards and Guidelines: Develop and implement site-specific health and safety standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead Implementation of Site WHS Objectives and Programs: Develop and implement site-specific health and safety objectives and programs to achieve a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Promote a Safe Culture: Foster a culture of safety among employees by providing regular health and safety content to shift briefing/standup meetings.
  • Perform Site Safety Audits: Conduct regular site safety audits to identify non-compliance equipment and/or processes and work with the Operations team to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
  • Conduct Daily and Weekly WHS Audits: Conduct daily and weekly health and safety audits, including GEMBA walks, area audits, vehicle, and driver inspections, etc.
  • Attend to Incidents and Occupational Injury Cases: Respond to incidents and occupational injury cases on site and guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write-up, and communication of lessons learned.
  • Guide and Assist Area Managers: Provide guidance and support to area managers on health and safety matters, including incident investigations, Gensuite write-up, and communication of lessons learned.
  • Assist Ops Team in Gensuite Follow-up Sheet and CAPA Creation: Assist the Operations team in creating Gensuite follow-up sheets and CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action) reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure PPE Inventory and Coordination: Ensure the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) inventory at site is up-to-date and coordinate with procurement for order placement.
  • Ensure Basic Fire Fighting Training and First Aid Training Completion: Ensure all employees complete basic fire fighting training and first aid training.
  • Complete Daily Trailer Dock Release (TDR) Inspections and Communications: Conduct daily TDR inspections and communicate the results to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Daily Action Tracking System Monitoring Closeout and Support: Monitor the Action Tracking System and provide support to ensure closeout of actions.
  • Participate in Site Management Safety Walk: Participate in site management safety walks and provide insight into unsafe acts and conditions to management.
  • Provide Daily Updates to Country WHS Manager: Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objectives progress, incidents, AOs, ATS network actions, etc.
  • Prepare WHS Committee Meeting Agenda, MOM Write-up, and ATS Creation: Prepare the WHS committee meeting agenda, MOM (Minutes of Meeting) write-up, and ATS (Action Tracking System) creation.
  • Daily Permit to Work Review and Sign-off: Review and sign-off daily Permit to Work documents working with the operational and facilities team.
  • Lead on WHS-Related Procurement and Follow-up: Lead on WHS-related procurement and follow-up on site.
  • Prepare Risk Assessments and Emergency Response Plans: Prepare risk assessments and emergency response plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Preparation and Completion of Emergency Drills, Medievac Drills, and Preparing Drill Records: Manage the preparation and completion of emergency drills, medievac drills, and preparing drill records.
  • Heat Index Establishment, Monitoring, and Support: Establish, monitor, and support the Heat Index program.
  • Provide Support to Site-Specific Requests, Unplanned Events, and Activities: Provide support to site-specific requests, unplanned events, and activities.
  • On-the-Road Experience: Possess on-the-road experience.
  • Excellent Computer and Data Analysis Skills: Possess excellent computer and data analysis skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • NEBOSH IGC: Possess a NEBOSH IGC (International General Certificate) qualification.
  • Experience in WHS Field: Have experience in the WHS field.
  • Good Communication Skills in English: Possess good communication skills in English.
  • Valid UAE Driving License and Own Transport: Possess a valid UAE driving license and own transport.
  • Works Well within a Team Environment: Be able to work well within a team environment.
  • Driven and Pushes for Self-Development and Growth: Be driven and push for self-development and growth.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering/Science Bachelor Degree: Possess a Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or engineering/science.
  • Experience Working within a Team: Have experience working within a team.
  • Ability to Analyze Accident Data, New Processes, and Machinery for Potential Safety Concerns: Be able to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
  • Experienced in Emergency Response and Currently Holds First Aid and CPR Certificates: Be experienced in emergency response and currently hold First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Passion for Safety: Possess a passion for safety.
