Role Overview

The FAO Subregional Office for the Gulf Cooperation Council States and Yemen seeks a highly skilled National Professional Officer (Administration) to provide expert-level administrative support in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

This is a fixed-term position for one year with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate will have advanced university qualifications in a field related to business or public administration and significant experience in office management, administration, accounting, and/or audit, budget, or finance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the office's administrative services, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.

  • Provide administrative support in implementing collaborative programmes and periodic monitoring of their implementation.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures, norms, and systems in compliance with existing policies, covering full-range administration-related processes, including personnel.

  • Manage and supervise the administrative team to optimize productivity and efficiency.

  • Analyze data from various sources, including FAO corporate systems and databases, to inform strategic decisions.

  • Prepare financial reports, budgetary estimates, and special reports for budget preparation, audits, and other requests.

  • Review accounts, process payments according to established rules, and liaise with local banks and financial institutions.

  • Oversee the financial and administrative correspondence and filing system of the office.

  • Monitor government contributions and ensure procurement and customs clearances for programmes, projects, and the office are properly requested and obtained.

  • Ensure adherence to the Organization's security guidelines (Minimum Operational Security Standards - MOSS).
