Fuel Handling and Storage Specialist Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and Execute Outage Activities: Develop and implement outage plans in accordance with Nawah standards and procedures.
  • Fuel Receipt and Storage: Oversee the unloading and storage of fuel shipping casks, as well as the handling, inspection, and storage of fuel assemblies.
  • Initial Fuel Loading: Coordinate the handling of neutron sources, calibration of neutron flux monitoring, inspection, and interlock tests of fuel handling equipment, FME, installation of underwater lighting into the reactor core, transfer of dummy fuel assemblies to the RCB, and repositioning of temporary fuel load channels.
  • Reactor Pressure Vessel (IHA) Integrated Head Assembly Disassembly & Re-assembly: Manage the disassembly and re-assembly of vessel internals, including Upper Guide Structure (UGS) and Core Support Barrel (CSB).
  • Removal and Re-Installation of Components: Oversee the removal and re-installation of pressure boundary, push and pull cables, 54 Reactor Vessel-Studbolts and plugs, stud hole inspection, and plugin installation.
  • Core Loading & Unloading: Coordinate the loading and unloading of fuel assemblies.
  • Management of Fuel Handling Systems and Equipment: Inspect, test, and maintain third-party certificates for lifting and rigging equipment/accessories, as well as manage FHA overhead crane and RCB Polar crane.
  • Management of Special Tools and Materials: Oversee the management of special tools and materials.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare required documentation for work packages, including Work Order, Job Hazard Analysis, Work Method Statement, Final Report, etc.
  • Procedure Development and Improvement: Develop and improve fuel handling equipment-related procedures based on operational experience.
  • Support and Oversight: Support and oversee the inspection and repair of fuel handling equipment.
  • Foreign Object Search and Retrieval (FOSAR): Perform FOSAR for the Fuel Handling Area and Reactor Refueling Pool.
  • Containment and Infrastructure Management: Contribute to the development of plans and schedules for reactor vessel disassembly and re-assembly activities, and support the availability of infrastructure requirements to ensure successful work execution.
  • Cleanliness and Containment Inspection: Maintain overall refuel floor and spent fuel building cleanliness via approved Foreign Materials Exclusion (FME) programs to ensure successful FME prevention and facilitate containment inspection closure.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Coordinate between containment working departments, vendor organizations, and the Outage Control Center (OCC) as necessary to maintain schedule performance.
  • Risk Management: Report potential areas of schedule or performance risk in relation to reactor vessel and fuel movement works to the Head of Containment and OCC Management to identify mitigation strategies proactively.
