Job Summary

Asterix Communications is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Cargo Logistics Manager to join our team. As a key member of our logistics department, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the transportation and delivery of oversized, heavy, or high-value goods required for specific constructions, production, or infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Transportation Planning: Work closely with project managers to plan and coordinate the transportation and delivery of required goods, including identifying suitable transportation routes, considering regulatory requirements, and ensuring timely delivery.
  2. Project Bidding and Support: Actively involved in project bidding and supporting the sales team, negotiating with suppliers to design operational efficiencies and cost objectives to win contracts.
  3. Market Intelligence: Possess market intelligence in trends and supply/demand.
  4. Cargo Transportation: Involve a combination of different transportation modes, such as trucks, ships, barges, etc. The choice of transportation mode depends on the nature, size, and weight of the cargo, as well as the project's location.
  5. Cargo Handling and Security: Ensure proper loading, securing, and unloading of the cargo, utilizing specialized equipment like cranes, roll-on/roll-off vessels, or heavy-lift helicopters.
  6. Permits and Licenses: Obtain the necessary permits, licenses, and clearances for transporting oversized loads or hazardous materials.
  7. Method Statements and Compliance: Involved in Method Statements, CPAs, planning, etc., to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations to avoid legal issues and delays.
  8. Risk Management: Actively manage risks associated with transportation, including potential delays, damage, loss, or theft of the cargo. Implement measures to mitigate these risks, such as insurance coverage, tracking systems, and contingency plans.
  9. Cost Optimization: Optimize costs while ensuring efficient transportation and timely delivery. This involves analyzing various cost factors, such as transportation routes, equipment selection, and consolidation of cargo to minimize expenses.
  10. Engineering Documents: Work on engineering documents such as drawings, Method Statements, risk assessments, etc.
  11. Project Planning: Develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting.
  12. Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and team members.
  13. Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. This includes monitoring risks throughout the project lifecycle and implementing contingency plans as needed.
  14. Supplier Management: Select and manage suppliers and vendors for transportation, warehousing, and other logistics services. Ensure contracts are negotiated and adhered to.
  15. Quality Control: Ensure that cargo handling, transportation, and storage meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Implement quality control measures and inspections as necessary.
  16. Communication: Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, issues, and resolutions.
  17. Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively to meet project objectives within budget constraints. This includes managing personnel, equipment, and other resources efficiently.
  18. Project Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, invoices, reports, and compliance documentation.
  19. Reporting: Generate regular reports for stakeholders on project status, performance metrics, and financials.
  20. Issue Resolution: Address issues and conflicts that arise during the project promptly and effectively. Develop solutions collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
  21. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains throughout the project lifecycle. Implement best practices and lessons learned for future projects.
  22. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded. Provide excellent customer service and address any concerns or feedback promptly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Mechanical Engineer or any other engineering degree related to the targeted operations)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HL cargo engineering.
  • Has knowledge of marine, UAE routes, lifting, skidding, weighing, and transportation.
  • Strong in AutoCAD and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
  • A passion for improving and evolving collaboration and development practices.
  • Works closely with business partners and system analysis staff to understand desired system requirements.
  • Works closely with quality assurance staff to ensure coded components meet requirements and respond timely to issues reported.
  • Strong experience within engineering calculation and design.
  • Work with commercial to provide estimations of project requirements and budget.
  • Working closely with operations and commercial to provide the best engineering study and solution.
  • Minimum 5 years of solid operations experience in the logistics field offshore & onshore.
