Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fitter - Rudder Propeller to join our team at DP World. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our rudder and propeller systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Repair and Maintenance: Conduct thorough inspections and repairs of all mechanical parts of the rudder and propeller, including propeller blades, to ensure they are in good working condition.
  2. Balancing and Polishing: Perform necessary balancing and polishing operations to ensure the rudder and propeller systems are functioning efficiently.
  3. Bedding and Gouging: Carry out bedding and gouging operations to ensure the rudder and propeller systems are properly aligned and functioning smoothly.
  4. Operational Support: Operate Cherry Pickers as required to support all mechanical operations and ensure the safe and efficient movement of personnel and equipment.
  5. Service and Maintenance: Service Blohm and Voss seal and perform other maintenance tasks as required to ensure the optimal performance of the rudder and propeller systems.
  6. Teamwork and Communication: Maintain good working relationships with workers, appointed foremen, supervisors, and management to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  7. Leadership and Training: Perform duties of a Foreman as required or appointed for individual projects and attend any training required by the department to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  8. Quality Control: Ensure materials used are of the required standard prior to use and report any damages or defects as required.
  9. Productivity and Efficiency: Work within allocated timescales to meet department targets and maintain good housekeeping in all work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  10. Continuity of Work: Follow day-to-day operations related to your job to ensure continuity of work and minimize downtime.
