Job Summary:

Parsons Oman is seeking a highly skilled Resident Design Engineer to lead the design and planning of infrastructure and landscaping projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and experience in managing construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to the construction team and develop designs for infrastructure and landscaping projects.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of design-related decisions, modifications, and internal approvals.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Design and plan infrastructure and landscaping projects, including road work, stormwater management, and public realm development.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, design proposals, and method statements related to infrastructure and landscaping projects.
  • Coordinate with the contractor to ensure effective resource allocation and scheduling.
  • Supervise and monitor the performance of the construction team working on infrastructure and landscaping projects.
  • Collaborate with the client, project management team, and relevant authorities to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Advise on contractual and design/construction matters related to utilities diversions and installations, traffic diversions, and other related works.
  • Ensure safety goals are achieved on the project and oversee implementation of safety procedures.
  • Act positively and participate in all health and safety issues at the site.
  • Comply with safety, health, and risk management requirements.
  • Provide on-site direction and issue site instructions for infrastructure and landscaping projects.
  • Check and measure the performed work and record and display progress vs programmed work.
  • Prepare progress reports as applicable.
  • Ensure correctness and completeness of 'as-built' drawings in the area of his discipline.
  • Participate in contract administration.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity. Demonstrated effective managerial capability on construction projects of comparable scope and complexity is also required, as well as excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) registration or other similar professional organizations preferred.
  • Emphasis on Quality Assurance Specifications and Statistical Quality Control.
  • Must be fully computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc., and any project-specific engineering and construction relevant software.
Desired Skills:
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the proven ability for performing in a supervisory capacity on a project.
