About the Company:
This organization is engaged in the exploration, production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments, including Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses the exploration and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment is focused on refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products along with related services to both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services, including human resources, finance, and information technology.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Downstream Strategist to join the Fuels Strategy & Capital Planning Department. This department is tasked with developing the strategic direction of the Fuels Business Unit (BU), managing capital investments, identifying portfolio synergies, and optimizing opportunities while conducting financial management activities.

As a Downstream Strategist, your primary responsibility will be to act as the subject matter expert in Downstream strategy and scenario planning. You will serve as the BU Advisor for issues related to Downstream business, providing independent research on a broad spectrum of topics that examine long-term scenarios affecting the BU's competitive edge.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for preparing research, special studies, and analyses as needed for the Strategic Council and other Corporate Committees. This role demands a profound understanding of Downstream operations and the capability to provide strategic insights that align with corporate goals and enhance business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert in Downstream strategy and scenario planning.
  • Prepare research, special studies, and market analyses for the Downstream Strategy Council and other Corporate and Downstream Committees, contributing to scenario development.
  • Collaborate with a team of strategists to articulate the overall Fuels BU strategy and formulate outlook scenarios.
  • Work alongside strategists and planners to develop long-term strategic plans for the Fuels BU, including capital and resource allocation strategies.
  • Establish strong relationships with think tanks and industry experts to remain informed about key developments in the global Downstream business and other factors influencing the company's competitive performance.
  • Independently initiate research on diverse topics that explore long-term scenarios potentially impacting the company's competitive advantage in the Downstream sector.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to relocate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, or a closely related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in refining, chemicals, trading, and retail marketing, with at least 5 years in strategy formulation, scenario planning, and/or strategic planning.
