The Upstream segment encompasses exploration, field development, and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment focuses on refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products along with related services to both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides supporting services such as human resources, finance, and information technology.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Downstream Strategist to join the Fuels Strategy & Capital Planning Department. This department is responsible for formulating the strategy of the Fuels Business Unit (BU), managing capital, identifying portfolio synergies, optimization opportunities, and conducting financial management activities.
As a Downstream Strategist, your primary responsibility will be to act as the subject matter expert in Downstream strategy and scenario planning. You will serve as the BU Advisor for issues related to Downstream business, providing independent research on a variety of topics that explore long-term scenarios affecting the BU's competitive edge.
Moreover, you will prepare research, special studies, and analyses as needed for the Strategic Council and other Corporate Committees. This role demands a profound understanding of Downstream operations and the ability to contribute strategic insights that align with corporate goals and enhance business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the subject matter expert in Downstream strategy and scenario planning.
- Prepare research, special studies, and market analyses for the Downstream Strategy Council and other Corporate and Downstream Committees, which will inform scenario development.
- Collaborate with a team of strategists to articulate the overall Fuels BU strategy and formulate outlook scenarios.
- Work with strategists and planners to develop long-term strategic plans for the Fuels BU, including capital and resource allocation plans.
- Establish strong relationships with think tanks and industry experts to remain informed about key developments in the global Downstream business and other factors affecting competitive performance.
- Independently initiate research on a wide range of topics that explore long-term scenarios potentially impacting the organization’s competitive advantage in the Downstream sector.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to relocate.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, or a closely related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in refining, chemicals, trading, and retail marketing, with at least 5 years in strategy formulation, scenario planning, and/or strategic planning.
