About the Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced Design and Research Lead to join our Placemaking team, bringing a unique blend of design, research, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in landscape and urban design, with experience in user-centered design principles and projects. They will possess excellent verbal and graphical presentation skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. A minor in Anthropology, Sociology, or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities
The Design and Research Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing placemaking strategies, collaborating with colleagues to create engaging and inclusive public spaces. They will conduct research and analysis to understand the project context, identify opportunities for social value creation, and develop creative solutions to improve urban spaces. This role requires a high level of creativity, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. The Design and Research Lead will work closely with the Landscape, Masterplanning, and Economics teams to develop comprehensive masterplan strategies.
  2. They will conduct research and analysis into relevant social and cultural dimensions of the project context, ensuring a deep understanding of the community's needs.
  3. The successful candidate will develop strategies on building/public realm and urban scale, focusing on adding social value and engaging different user groups.
  4. They will work closely with colleagues to translate evidence-based strategies into spatial interventions and non-spatial engagement initiatives.
  5. The Design and Research Lead will actively engage with the design team throughout the process from brief development to visioning and analysis of design options.
  6. They will handle new project proposals, drafting methodologies, highlighting scopes, and calculating budgets.
