Job Summary

The Climate Impact Associate will be responsible for impact assessments and decision-making support provided to The Rise Fund and Al Jahdhami Rise Climate. The associate will delve deeply into Rise's climate and energy transition-related thematic areas: energy transition, green mobility, sustainable fuels, materials and products, agriculture, and carbon solutions. As a secondary area, the associate will also cover social impact sectors, such as education, financial inclusion, and healthcare, primarily in the Global South.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting impact-related assessments (diligence and ex-post evaluation and advisory) of potential investments and portfolio companies for The Rise Platform. This work includes desk research, research interpretation, data analysis, and modeling to quantify the potential environmental and social impact of a company.
  • Communicating with deal team professionals on active deals, with the rigor and turnaround times of private equity deal flow. The associate must deliver high-quality deliverables at a fast pace in line with Al Jahdhami's private equity diligence cycle.
  • Other research and content development as needed. The associate will play a cross-functional role on the Y Analytics team and will help support our continued growth.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree plus a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience. Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in consulting, financial services, research and analytics, international development, or ESG/ climate impact focused professional services, ideally in climate and energy transition related areas.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving: must be able to navigate challenges with creative problem-solving ability and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to find, interpret and synthesize research studies of a highly quantitative nature under tight timelines, such as life cycle assessments (LCAs), various sector decarbonization scenarios, and microeconomic research.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and experience
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to analyze companies in multiple industries/sectors, across climate and energy-related sectors and social impact sectors
  • Exceptional quantitative analytics capabilities: must be able to efficiently and accurately build quantitative models to analyze impact using research, company data, and third-party data
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication: must be able to synthesize findings from research and data analysis in presentations and written documents, and communicate these to internal and external senior executives
  • Ability to produce polished and client-ready deliverables, including skilled use of MS PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ownership and self-direction: must be able to drive work forward independently, self-guide research and manage projects, and deliver top quality, highly polished outputs by set deadlines
