Job Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring that all aspects of the business are running smoothly and efficiently. This includes managing the hotel's departments, supervising staff, and implementing policies and procedures to maintain high standards of quality and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the hotel's strategic plan, marketing plan, budget, and goals to ensure optimum guest satisfaction, sales potential, and profitability.
  • Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction by providing quality guest services and amenities, within corporate standards.
  • Interact with guests, individuals outside the hotel, including current and potential clients, owning company representatives, community leaders, government officials, travel industry representatives, suppliers, competitors, and other members of the local community.
  • Coordinate functions and activities with the General Manager, Regional Area, and Corporate staff as appropriate.
  • Manage the functions of all hotel personnel through supervision of the hotel department heads.
  • Assist in monitoring present and future trends, practices, and systems in the hotel industry and determine and ensure execution of competitive programs as directed.
  • Participate in conducting weekly inspections and ensure physical facilities are kept in optimal condition by full implementation of preventive programs and judicious planning and management of FF&E as directed.
  • Ensure emergency procedures are practiced and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees.
  • Monitor applicable laws and regulations, including Health and Safety, and ensure compliance.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal communication and meetings structures to ensure optimum teamwork and productivity.
  • Establish and maintain a prominent level of visibility and involvement in the property and business social and governmental communities as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Develop recognition programs, advertising, and promotional campaigns to obtain greatest market awareness and patronage.
  • Review energy conservation programs to ensure minimum energy and utility consumption without sacrificing human comfort.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, assume responsibilities as appropriate. Keep the General Manager informed of any unforeseen events which may occur in his/her absence.
  • Assist in selling the hotel through personal involvement with all potential markets as required.
  • Ensure environmentally friendly practices are implemented in accordance with the Sofitel & Accor Environmental Manual/local laws and regulations.
