**Organisational Context**

Global hunger has reached alarming levels in 2022, and WFP, the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2020, remains dedicated and committed to address this global food crisis. To enhance the efficiency and impact of our global initiatives, WFP is relocating key corporate functions within procurement and supply chain from its headquarters (Rome, Italy) to the UAE. The UAE, chosen for its strategic location, stability, advanced infrastructure, markets, expertise, and innovation, is hosting the newly established Global Supply Chain Support Center.

**JOB TITLE**: Procurement Intern

**JOB CONTRACT/GRADE**: Internship

**DURATION**: 6 months

**JOB LOCATION**: UAE, DUBAI

**REPORTING TO**: Procurement Officer

EXPECTED START DATE: May/June 2024

We are seeking a dynamic Procurement Intern to join our startup-like team and contribute to our vision of becoming a hub for innovative and impactful logistics solutions.

**Role and Responsibilities**:
Under the leadership of the **Domain Manager,** and with direct supervision of the **Category Manager **the intern will benefit from close mentoring, guidance, and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be an elemental part of the internship experience. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and some exciting soft-skills trainings, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in preparing and reviewing procurement documents (RFPs, RFQs, and bidding documents).
- Support the evaluation of supplier proposals and bids.
- Assist in contract management activities, including monitoring performance and compliance.
- Participate in meetings related to procurement processes and provide support as required.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of procurement databases. Prepare a concept note for one or two innovative Procurement Projects that would leverage the UAE know-how in terms of technology, AI, digitization and meet the humanitarian needs

**Deliverables**:

- Weekly progress reports outlining completed tasks and challenges faced.
- A final report summarizing the overall internship experience, lessons learned, and recommendations for process improvement.

**Supervision and Support**:

- The intern will report to WFP Dubai Office Procurement Officer
- Regular check-ins to discuss progress, challenges, and provide guidance.

**Evaluation**:

- Performance will be evaluated based on completed tasks, initiative, and overall contribution to the procurement team.

**Role Requirements**:

- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Commerce or Public Administration or related university program. WFP interns are required to have completed at least two years of their university programme or, if fresh graduates, they should have attended classes in the past 12 months;
- Familiarity with basic procurement principles and processes.
- Strong report writing, data analysis and research skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment. Willingness to contribute ideas and support colleagues in various tasks.
- Demonstrated interest in humanitarian efforts and a commitment to making a positive impact.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Proactive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges.
- Proficient in English language.

**Training components**

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry-leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

**Learning Elements**

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should have:

- An overview of how WFP works and how procurement activities and processes are handled in the organization.
- Gained practical experience in assisting with the execution of procurement activities and procedures.
- Learned about legal and regulatory frameworks governing public procurement. Contributed to the preparation of procurement documentation.
