URGENT JOINEY SPECIFCATION
The **Specification Officer** is responsible for preparing, managing, and communicating detailed product specifications for all joinery works, including bespoke furniture, cabinetry, doors, windows, and other wooden structures. The role ensures that products meet client expectations, comply with building codes and industry standards, and can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively.
**Key Responsibilities**:1. **Client and Stakeholder Liaison**
- Work directly with clients, architects, designers, and project managers to understand project requirements and specifications for joinery works.
- Review and interpret drawings, sketches, and technical documents to ensure the specifications align with the client’s needs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for specification-related inquiries during the project lifecycle.
2. **Preparation and Development of Specifications**
- Create and write detailed technical specifications for all joinery products, including material types, finishes, dimensions, tolerances, and installation requirements.
- Specify hardware, fittings, and components to be used in each product, ensuring they meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Ensure that all specifications are accurate, complete, and easy to understand for both the production team and external suppliers.
3. **Quality Control and Compliance**
- Ensure that all joinery products meet regulatory and industry standards, including fire safety, health and safety, sustainability, and quality standards.
- Check that materials and finishes specified are compliant with relevant building codes and environmental regulations (e.g., FSC certification, low-VOC finishes).
- Collaborate with the Quality Control team to verify that specifications are met during manufacturing and assembly processes.
4. **Design Collaboration and Technical Support**
- Work closely with the design team to incorporate creative solutions into the technical specifications while ensuring they remain manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Provide technical support to designers and project managers during the design phase, helping them choose appropriate materials and finishes.
- Advise on best practices for construction, detailing, and product assembly, taking into account site conditions, material properties, and client preferences.
5. **Costing and Budget Control**
- Assist in developing accurate cost estimates for joinery works based on the technical specifications and required materials.
- Work with the procurement team to select suppliers and contractors, ensuring that the specified materials are sourced cost-effectively and delivered on time.
6. **Change Management**
- Manage changes to the specifications as required throughout the project. Ensure all amendments are documented and communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
- Address any issues or discrepancies between the original specification and the final product, ensuring client satisfaction.
7. **Documentation and Record Keeping**
- Maintain a detailed record of specifications, drawings, and approvals for all projects.
- Create and update technical documents, including manuals, user guides, and maintenance instructions, as required for the project or product.
8. **Site Visits and Technical Evaluation**
- Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and ensure that joinery products are installed according to specifications.
- Provide technical support during installation and resolve any issues related to specifications or product performance.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:Educational Requirements**:
- A degree or diploma in **Joinery**, **Carpentry**, **Interior Design**, **Architecture**, **Construction**, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in building standards, safety regulations, or quality assurance are an advantage.
**Experience**:
- Previous experience in a joinery, carpentry, or woodworking environment, ideally with at least 2-3 years in a technical specification role.
- Familiarity with producing and interpreting technical drawings and product specifications for joinery projects.
- Experience with both bespoke and standard joinery works, including cabinetry, doors, windows, and structural wood components.
