Mondrian Abu Dhabi is preparing for an exciting new chapter, and we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales, Groups & Events to join our pre-opening team. This critical role will be responsible for leading and driving sales efforts for group bookings and events, ensuring the property becomes a premier destination for meetings, conferences, social gatherings, and other large-scale events. You will work closely with the leadership team to develop strategic sales initiatives, build relationships with key clients, and maximize revenue generation through innovative and personalized event experiences.

How your day looks like :

  • Develop and implement the sales strategy for groups and events, ensuring alignment with the overall business goals of Mondrian Abu Dhabi.
  • Lead a high-performing sales team focused on groups, events, and catering, establishing clear objectives and performance goals.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key clients, event planners, and corporate accounts to drive business for both small and large-scale events.
  • Work closely with the marketing and PR teams to promote the venue's unique event offerings, leveraging digital marketing and social media platforms to maximize visibility.
  • Manage and oversee event proposals, contracts, and negotiations, ensuring a seamless experience from initial inquiry through to event execution.
  • Identify and target new business opportunities, ensuring a diverse range of clients and events are secured for the hotel.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to continuously refine sales strategies and ensure business growth.
  • Ensure exceptional service delivery and guest satisfaction for all group bookings and events.
  • Collaborate with the operations teams to ensure events run smoothly, managing logistics, staff allocation, and guest requirements.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring profitability while maintaining the highest standards of service.

This role requires dynamic sales leadership, a deep understanding of luxury hospitality trends, and a focused, results-oriented approach to identifying and seizing opportunities that drive revenue growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales management, with at least 3 years in a Director-level role, ideally in a luxury or lifestyle hotel environment.
  • Experience working in a truly global work environment is essential.
  • Prior pre-opening experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of the Abu Dhabi market and an established network within the hospitality industry.
  • Proven ability to generate and drive business for both large and small events.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build long-lasting client relationships.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, control costs, and maximize revenue.
  • Experience with event management software and CRM systems (e.g., Opera) is a plus.
  • Passionate about delivering unique and memorable guest experiences through events and group bookings.
