RoleOverview

We are seeking avisionary and technically skilled Head of Market Data to lead thedesign development and evolution of our market data infrastructure.This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping our dataarchitecture ensuring the seamless acquisition storage andaccessibility of highquality historical market data for trading andresearch teams.

The ideal candidate is both astrategic leader and a handson expert with deep knowledge of L13exchange data and the ability to architect fast scalable andhighperformance data solutions.

StrategicLeadership

  • Define the vision andstrategy for the companys market data systems ensuring alignmentwith trading and research objectives.
  • Leadmentor and grow a highperforming market data engineeringteam.

Data PlatformArchitecture

  • Architect highperformancescalable data platforms and lakes capable of managing largescalehistorical market data including data normalization and storageoptimization.
  • Develop solutions for efficientuser APIs ensuring seamless access to data for backtesting researchand analytics.

Historical DataManagement

  • Oversee the design andmaintenance of systems for acquiring cleansing and storinghistorical market data from exchanges brokers and datavendors.
  • Implement robust processes for datavalidation normalization and versioning to ensure accuracy andintegrity.
  • Ensure the reconciliation of datachanges including handling corrections to past data and adapting tochanges in exchangeformats.

Collaboration andStakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closelywith quantitative researchers traders and other stakeholders tounderstand data requirements and optimize systems for strategydevelopment and backtesting.
  • Establish strongrelationships with market data providers ensuring robustintegrations and consistent dataavailability.
  • Ensure market data solutionssupport exchangetraded options cash equities and futures optimizingsystems for these asset classes unique datarequirements.

OperationalExcellence

  • Drive the scalability andperformance of data systems to accommodate growing data volumes andevolving organizational needs.
  • Optimize datastorage costs while maintaining high levels of performance andreliability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatoryrequirements and support data retention and reportingaudits.

Qualifications:

Required Skills andExperience:

  • Proven leadershipexperience in managing and developing market data systems within afinancial institution proprietary trading firm or buysideenvironment.
  • Handson expertise with L13exchange data including addressing challenges such as cleansing andnormalization.
  • Strong programming skills inPython and Go or Rust.
  • Deep knowledge of marketdata formats (e.g. MDP ITCH FIX) and APIs from exchanges and dataproviders.
  • Expertise in distributed datasystems (e.g. Hadoop Kafka Spark) and ETL processes for handlinglargescale datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency inSQL including complex queries performance tuning and datamodeling.
  • Extensive experience with Linux/Unixsystems and their optimization for data storage andprocessing.
  • Bachelors degree in ComputerScience Engineering or a relatedfield.

PreferredQualifications:

  • Experience workingwith unstructured datasets and alternate datasources.
  • Proficiency with cloud storageplatforms (e.g. AWS S3 Google Cloud Storage Azure) andcostperformance optimization.
  • Familiarity withdata governance and compliance standards for financialdata.
  • Knowledge of containerization andorchestration tools (e.g. Docker AirflowSLURM).
  • Exposure to machine learning workflowsto support quantitative researchteams.
