EssentialResponsibilities

  • Primarily accountable for one of thefollowing areas: Regional Clinical Adult Services, Maternal ChildHealth Services, PerioperativeServices.
  • Collaborates with medical centermanagement in identifying & implementing innovative nursingor staffing models & bestpractices.
  • Ensures coordinated plans oftreatment, patient focused delivery of Services &cost-effective utilization and care.
  • Develops,implements, and monitors departmental policy and procedures whichsupport the organizations goals and business objectives and ensuresthey are met.
  • Develops & implementssafety & quality strategies to assure an exceptional careexperience.
  • Provides clinical &professional oversight for areas of accountability. Ensuressuccessful implementation of other organizationalstrategies.
  • Collaborate in development ofstrategic plan for the recruitment, retention & workforcedevelopment of targeted nursing & allied healthpersonnel.
  • Utilizes research & BestPractices data to implement & expedite progressive clinicalchanges & to continually improve the delivery of patientcare & member services.
  • Supportsfinancial performance metrics by identifying & implementingregional strategies.
  • Integrates advancedleadership knowledge &practices.
  • Represents Regional leadership oncommittees, work groups, & initiatives as it pertains totheir line of service.
  • Models, mentors,& inspires evolved leadershippractices.
  • Serves as expert consultant& resource to the CNE/CNO Peer Group, KFH/HP and SCPMGleadership, physicians, and staff.
  • Oversees thedata collection and analysis of nursing quality indicators,collaborates with service area and medical center leadership toreview trend data and performance improvement focus, and monitorsfollow-up action plans to achieve organizationalgoals.
  • Oversees and develops standards of careand standards of practice, directs fiscal management, and qualityimprovement activities.
  • Hires, fires, performsdisciplinary actions, recommends employee training and development,and conducts performance assessments for assigned administrativestaff.
  • Responsible for department budgetcompliance and performance toobjectives.
  • Monitors financial performance andidentifies and implements strategies to reduce costs and improvequality of care/service.
  • Ensures that clientand organizational needs are metconsistently.
  • Provides leadership in thedevelopment and dissemination of best practices across regionaldepartments.
  • Establishes effective workingrelationships with peers both internal and external to KaiserPermanente.
  • Fosters a customer-oriented workenvironment with emphasis on dedication to helping customers,respect for individuals, highest standards of quality, innovation,empowerment, and teamwork by developing and implementing policiesand practices that reflect the vision of KaiserPermanente.

Experience

BasicQualifications:

  • Minimum six (6) years nursingexperience in the area of specialty.
  • Minimumtwo (2) years experience to be inclusive in a management/leadershiprole.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in teambuilding, conflict resolution, group interaction, projectmanagement, and budget management.

Education

  • Masters degree in Nursing, BusinessAdministration, Public Health Administration, or other relatedfield required.

License,Certification, Registration

  • Certified in Executive NursingPractice OR Nurse Operating Room Certificate OR Nurse ExecutiveAdvanced Certificate OR Nurse Executive Board Certificate ORCertified Nurse Manager and LeaderCertification
  • Registered Nurse License(California)

AdditionalRequirements

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonalcommunication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability todetermine the key business issues and develop appropriate actionplans from multidisciplinaryperspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to leadprofessionals through influence andcollaboration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of TJC,NCQA, Nurse Practice Act, professional association standards,federal, state, and other regulatory standards, requirements, andguidelines related to quality improvement, patient safety &applicable nursing practice.
  • Strong workingknowledge of ongoing monitoring techniques (including criteriadevelopment and statistical analysis); medical care delivery inhospital and outpatient settings; and total quality managementprinciples, tools, and techniques.
  • Must be ableto work in a Labor/Management Partnershipenvironment.
  • Some travel will berequired.

PreferredQualifications

  • Director level experience in area ofspecialty.
  • Leadership experience inprogressively more challenging roles in academic or other complexclinical settings.
  • ANCC CertificationAmbulatory Care Nurse
